Hello guys, for those of you who have had their background check started already. Could you please let me know if you have only sent the police check from your home country or both (from Canada and home country)? I am a bit confused here, and I tried calling the CIC hotline but I ran out of luck and after 65 mins of waiting I was kicked out. I would like to be sure that I am not missing anything. Thank you guys!

Unless asked for, you won't be needing a Canadian police certificate.

Do not forget to check your GCKey account for any unread messages/letters. In our case, we got a pdf letter on GCKey, explaining that my spouse had to get a RCMP certificate since she had already spent more than 6 months in Canada and that this was regular procedure. But I guess it isn't asked from everyone, regardless of time spent in the country.

Congrats!!

What are all the abbreviations after MR, though?
PA (principle applicant?), SA, AIP?

I wish there was a glossary for all the short forms...

My background check used to appear as: " NOT APPLICABLE".. and then last weeks it changed to: "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."..

I didn't receive any email or message.. I guess that if they need me to send them police checks or other information they will contact me..

Yeah. mine changed to same.

Congrats!!

SA is sponsor approval, and AIP is approval in principle. I did see a list of terms and abbreviations at one point, but of course cannot find it again. If I come across it, I'll send it to you :)
