Hello guys, for those of you who have had their background check started already. Could you please let me know if you have only sent the police check from your home country or both (from Canada and home country)? I am a bit confused here, and I tried calling the CIC hotline but I ran out of luck and after 65 mins of waiting I was kicked out. I would like to be sure that I am not missing anything. Thank you guys!

yup sent police check from my home country and canadian police check that i got like 2 years ago when i was still in toronto... but i think this one is useless ...since i been living in calgary for over a year already

I didn't receive any e-mail or notification about my OWP and my Lawyer said she didn't receive any email or mail
about it. She sent a Web-form to get the status on Feb 14, 2019 but we didn't receive any feedback
I linked my (PR) APP to my account but I could't still link my OWP App to my account.

I read it on multiple threads that CIC only returned their OWP application and proceeded with their PR application.
For example, you can see it on @niamahmoud 's timeline, an applicant from May 2018:
(PR & OWP) received: May 1 2018
AOR: June 12 2018
OWP Returned (Due to insufficient funds): June 14th 2018
OWP resent to Vegreville: July 16th 2018
Medical Request: 26th September 2018
RCMP Fingerprint Check request + Updated Passport Request: 26th September 2018
Medical Received: 22nd October 2018
Medical Passed (as seen on GCkey): 25th October 2018
OWP Approved: 26th October 2018
As you can see, he got his AOR first but then after 2 days (due to insufficient funds), he got his OWP application returned. He sent it back in July and just got his OWP approval yesterday.

Given the date of your applications, seems like the OWP was accepted for processing. Do you think the lack of news would have anything to do with the fact that you had to renew your passport? I really have no idea. Simply trying to figure out what could be the issue. Does your lawyer have an educated guess?

As long as you had a valid status when you submitted your applications, you should be receiving your OWP approval within 4 months, and yours was supposed to be 2 weeks ago - on or before the 11th of this month. But!... taking into account the fact that OWP comes with an expiry date 2 years from the date of approval or the expiry date of your passport (whichever comes first), yours might have been backlogged in between departments, pending the receipt of your new passport information, and CIC probably couldn't issue your OWP on time as your passport was expired by the time they reviewed your application.
Why don't you call the call centre (or have your lawyer call if you used one), get your OWP application number and go from there?

The CIC requested me a new passport because my passport expired in July 2018, fortunately I renewed it in December 2018.
I already have the new passport and I made the CIC update of the new passport and they already received it. My question is that when I call the CIC over the phone they tell me that my OWP application number does not appear in the system, the call center sent a note to the Mississauga offices to obtain the status and the application number. I have not been able to link the OWP to my account My lawyer sent the applications together OWP & PR and has the payment receipt for the OWP process the sending a request through a web form to know the status but still does not receive a response

My background check used to appear as: " NOT APPLICABLE".. and then last weeks it changed to: "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."..
I didn't receive any email or message.. I guess that if they need me to send them police checks or other information they will contact me..
My husband and I sent police checks from his home country and any country he spent 6+ months in during the past 5 years, because from what we could gather, they usually request those anyway. So 3 all together, but we did not submit a Canadian police check.
That's correct. If they need anything from you, they'll leave you a message on your GCKey. Congrats on reaching the next stage!
