Please suggest if a person is federal govt employee then how does it affect visa or OCI?

NO, foreign military personnel either in service or retired are not entitled for grant of OCI.

Not sure if working for Feds have the same bearing, you've got to ask Consulate or BLS for it

City name changed by government.
E.g. - Bombay is called Mumbai now. And they are saying onus on you now to provide affidavit of why your Canadian passport says Mumbai when Indian passport said Bombay (City name used just as example). Not my problem that any government decided to change the name of the city.

So yes, will have to provide the same and mention each specific details.

However, I've already got the notarized affidavit done from a solicitor. Had to spend money but it is what it is.
Hopefully will get my OCI soon.

My wife's and daughter's passports have Bombay as their place of birth, whereas the Canadian passports lists Mumbai as the place of birth. They had no issues with their OCI applications. Applications submitted at BLS Mississauga this June.

No, BLS did not ask for the affidavit at all. And no affidavit was provided in the past.

Thanks for your input on this issue.
So I guess, we are at the mercy of a person who is checking the documents. Seems like there is no set parameters to evaluate the applications.

Hope I get my OCI smoothly after this and no other issue is found.

Luck of the draw I guess! The BLS agent who checked our 4 applications was a pleasant young woman. Everything was in order with our applications. We were in and out in about 40 minutes. Altogether a very satisfying experience.

I am sure you will get your OCI soon. Good luck! We got ours in about 7 weeks from the time of application.

As per current pattern, you application should be processed by Oct-2.

I submitted my family OCI application in Calgary[which is Vancouver Jurisdiction and here is the timeline so far...

Application Submitted as Walkin - 19th July 2024
Date of Acknowledgement - 23rd July 2024
OCI Status[OCISERVICES] - Under Process
Application Status[BLS] - Processing at Consulate General

I heard from this forum that Vancouver Jurisdiction takes around 2-3 months whereas Toronto Jurisdiction takes approximately 5-6 weeks.
