Submitted my OCI application on 18 July 2024 via walk-in appointment at BLS Calgary. It's 26 August 2024 and I don't see any movement. Is the Vancouver office always this slow compared to Toronto?

Do you see Under process on BLS website? What status do you see on the OCI website?

Just came back from FRRO. Message is the same -" you have to exit on the same visa you entered"
I too received the same information when I contacted them. I am now waiting for OCI.

An update for my application and venting out my frustration on uselessness of BLS Canada.
1. My birth city name in India was changed.
2. My old cancelled Indian Passport had the previous city name.
3. My new Canadian Passport have the new city name.

My OCI application is being returned as erroneous wherein I've to explain why name of city is different in Canadian and Indian Passport.
Also I have to provide an affidavit (for which they have no format but rather I've to check with my lawyer) which states why the city name is different.
When I mentioned no such thing is asked when Passport is renewed whether NRI or even in India, they said it is a requirement only for OCI application.
The whole process has turned into a showcase of incompetency and another bullet point to add in the long list of BLS uselessness and how they try to mint money.

Also they will make money on postal application by virtue of overcharging.

Will update later what happens to my application as I didn't find any relevant information on this when searching for solution on this issue.
Maybe it will help someone in future.

Is it different because of spelling changes, missing state name?

Your affidavit should state that reason, how and why it is changed?

Anyone applied recently OCI in Vancouver. Please share your timeline and experience and how long it take for Vancouver office to process the application from start to end. Thanks

I submitted my family OCI application in Calgary[which is Vancouver Jurisdiction and here is the timeline so far...

Application Submitted as Walkin - 19th July 2024
Date of Acknowledgement - 23rd July 2024
OCI Status[OCISERVICES] - Under Process
Application Status[BLS] - Processing at Consulate General

I heard from this forum that Vancouver Jurisdiction takes around 2-3 months whereas Toronto Jurisdiction takes approximately 5-6 weeks.

I am also still waiting for any updates for my son's OCI although my date of acknowledgement was 11th July. So I guess we will receive probably mid or later half of September.
The text below is directly from BLS Vancouver website(https://www.blsindia-canada.com/vancouver-jurisdiction/oci-faqs.php):
  1. How long it will take to get OCI.
Ans: Usual processing time is 3 months subject to complete documentation.

I remember Vancouver had a tracking sheet(the link is in my signature) but somehow it seems it was deleted.

City name changed by government.
E.g. - Bombay is called Mumbai now. And they are saying onus on you now to provide affidavit of why your Canadian passport says Mumbai when Indian passport said Bombay (City name used just as example). Not my problem that any government decided to change the name of the city.

So yes, will have to provide the same and mention each specific details.

Heights of beurocracy.. creating unnecessary havoc for applicants.

City names are changed by Government notification and published in official Gazettes, they should have a copy of it themselves, instead of asking for affidavit..

Exactly, than which letter an unemployed or self employed can submit?
e.g. if you a homemaker and are not working then just mention on the letter you are not employed
if you are a self employed, you can draft a document highlighting what are you doing as part of self employment(keep it generic). Not required to mention salary

Please suggest if a person is federal govt employee then how does it affect visa or OCI?

My wife's and daughter's passports have Bombay as their place of birth, whereas the Canadian passports lists Mumbai as the place of birth. They had no issues with their OCI applications. Applications submitted at BLS Mississauga this June.
