OCI process

Which one is this -- we have two (Oct 13 and 16) under your name.
Ack does not generate an email -- only OCI site update.

Both are Nov 9.

Does anyone know what causes the difference in the processed to received time? I see some people have it in hand 3 days after processing and some get it in hand 5 days after processing. Also I'm not seeing anything at this stage in the OCI portal other than the ack - is that normal? Does it only show all the updates that people are posting after it gets processed?

@eas2lv We got response from OCI team they said "OCI process goes through a clearance process from the Ministry of Home Affairs, which cannot be interfered with."

Not sure if it's a standard response. Anyone you came across on this thread who got same response?

That is a generic response and somewhat correct as the consulate cannot act before certain time-frame has passed for MHA clearance.
My understanding is that this 20+ renewal requires them to wait for longer than fresh OCI. No idea why this is so. Still, I expected it to be about 30 days after Ack and get approved soon.

Looking at the spreadsheet, it looks like processing times are creeping up, they were averaging 14 days in August, 21 for October and almost 28 days for November files

We are travelling and OCI is expected to arrive during same time. Whats the process if not received at the delivery address?

In Toronto it happens the same day or next in cases where the process is done close to end of day. So there is virtually no delay. In Ottawa there is a wide variability and they appear to be using a different protocol -- may be they do the signing and stamping only once a week and click the last step at that time -- just guessing.
My rough estimate is that Ottawa processes less than 1/10th the number of applications per day compared to Toronto, so they possibly have little resources set aside for this job.

Yes, about 55 days from application to receipt right now and even more if you project it to future assuming same trend.
OCI - Toronto trends: Ack 28 days, process 22 days, dispatch 5 days -- total 55 days from BLS application date (as of Nov 16, 2023)

Not to sound negative but I feel it will be pretty tight for you. It would be wise if you go for entry visa as a plan B. I had applied for OCI on 3rd Oct with ack date of 5th Oct, my OCI is processed and hoping to get it in hand early next week. My 2 cents though.

Finally some update as below

Vanocuver BLS walk-in applied-Sept/27
ACK - Oct/05/2023
Processed- Nov/17
BLS webiste -Still processing at Consulate
Any idea when I can get this ?

Also me and my husband applied for Entry visa on Nov/09 and today passports has been dispatched after stmaping visa and will deliver today. So this was fast.

Further me and my husband applied for OCI as well on Oct/19- but ACK- Nov/01 and that is sill under process.

Mine processed on 14th is still in progress at BLS, Hopefully end of day they will get it.

Based on the Ack date, I guess Toronto. Your most optimistic projected date to get OCi in hand would be Dec 5 (see OCI Tracker - Toronto )
That's too close to travel in my view. Too late for postal entry visa application as well. If possible apply for entry visa in person.

Finally received the second OCI as well. My tryst with BLS is finally over (at least for another 17-18 years)!

OCI minor application status changed to Processed with date 17-Nov(Ack date - Oct27). Other 2 dates(Dispatched From MEA (OCI ), Document received At) are not filled in
