Thank you. I have also read some people here suggest that it would be better to travel to India after the oath ceremony WITHOUT applying for Canadian passport - and as such, apply for it at Canadian embassy in India.

This is because it is prohibited to travel on India passport (barring the 3 months grace period) only if you have NOT acquired passport of another country.

So many confusing claims here, not sure which ones are true. Even the MoEA website has contradictory information.

This is the issue - even though they say there is a grace period it is not very clear. And there haven't been several accounts of other members mentioning taking advantage of this successfully here. And as they always do - they make up their own rules on the go so, it's better to be safe than sorry. You can look at the OCI thread to see how their requirements keep changing from what is actually published on their website for example

You might still have to end up paying a penalty for using the passport any way and all the hassle of getting an exit permit to leave India after obtaining your Canadian Passport at the High Commission in India. Also to note it may take more than 20 days to obtain your passport outside Canada vs urgent processing of 1 business day in Canada.

10 days till Oath (Aug 25, 2023) - still no email with instructions.
Seeing people getting the email in more than 2 wks in advance, or in less than 1 wk.

you may have to call them. its 10 days but count as 6 working days for them. So its better to call and ask what is the instruction?

UPD: called. they said deets are still not finalized, expect by Monday next wk. so 3 days before Oath essentially.
UDP2: got the email with instructions 10 mins ago. seems IRCC is managing to turn ops processes around!

any one was waiting for Background check for long and got it completed recent, I have been waiting for Bg to be completed for four months now still pending

Same boat here. Did my test 4 months ago in April and since then no updates. Only the test is showing up as completed. Even the BG check is still pending.

Wondering how long it will take to see any activity. I see so many receiving the oath invitation that is making me anxious and wondering why it is taking so long.
