Actually I need their letter to do my HK police check, which is only available by request from CIC... hope this won't delay the whole process!

summersunsunfan we have same situation, my wife needs to get her Hk police check, hoping there will be no much delays when obtaining it when they request it.. nothing to say but God Bless for all of us...

I am not sure what the procedure of getting a hk police certifate, you mean you need a letter even if you are a PR in there?

HK police certificate will only be issued upon request by immigration authorities etc., which means I cannot just go and ask for it without a request letter from CIC. All HK residents need this sort of letter to get one, no matter if you are a PR or not..

From what I read from other members in this thread, when your PR change from application received to in progress, this means all documents have already been scanned by cic and electronically transfered to the VO.

When you obtained a 3rd line under your PR that says they start processing on ..., this means you have pass your eligibility and they are doing accessment on your criminality and security clearance.

So the CIC is not sending all the paper through mail, they are electronically scanning all documents and sending them to the VO destination is that correct? Meaning VO should be getting those electronic files less than a month right ? :o

It should be instant... if it is sent electronically

I spoke to CIC and they confirmed with me that they electronically scan all documents to the VO'S abroad.... whether that's true or not is another story. That's a lot of scanning :-X

Hey everyone, woke up to check ecas and saw we got third line... file is at VO and they have started work on it.... :) :P :P ;D :D

Congrats!!! :) That's very exciting! We are still waiting for our third line. Currently only have "we received xxx's application" and "medical results received." We got SA on January 15 and I am trying hard to be patient! :P

Hopefully the November group will see more and more third lines soon!!! :D

So the third line is a big deal eh? means that work has officially started for sure now?

I know how you are feeling, but it will come eventually... unfortunately you can't time CIC... they are incredibly inconsistent ...

I am a little confused reading through the threads and I am hoping that someone can clarify this for me please. I am looking on ECAS and under Permanent Residence Application Status it shows the following:

1) We received ***** application for permanent residence on November 13, 2015.
2) We started processing ******* application on January 25, 2016.

I am hearing so much about this 3rd line...What 3rd line lol? The only thing that I see missing is confirmation that they have his medical which was done upfront and sent in with the application. Someone please explain if you can :D
