Re: IMM5491E - question number 22 and up

hello everyone,

I will be applying anytime these two weeks. I wanted to ask about questions number 22 to 27. I am only sponsoring my wife)we don't have any children) and not her family members. Do I need to provide her family members' documents as well or just her's??

Thanks

Only provide documents for the people you are sponsoring, in your case just your wife.

Thanks Andrew

If you don't mind me asking....

I need to know what documents, pictures, or any type of proof of marriage I need to submit.

My other concern is that we always chat in Arabic and very rarely in English. Do I have to translate every screenshot(from any communication app we used) I take as proof to our marriage being genuine? If yes, can I translate it myself?

Please please help.

PS: I am also wondering if I need to translate pages of my passports that show my entrance and exit to Saudi Arabia when I visited her because that is in Arabic as well.

Thanks

When Nov applicants expect AOR/SA.....

I'm getting married on Monday and we will be sending in our application within a few days of that. I'm excited! Here's hoping that it doesn't get sent back for any reason.

AOR typically happens 1 month after the application is received, give or take a few days.

SA typically happens 2 months after the application is received, or approximately 1 month after AOR.

Some people may see times closer to 40 days.

Check out the spreadsheet in my signature, and you can see all the data from this past year. It'll help you get time estimates.

Add yourself, too, to the spreadsheet! The more data, the better!

Hey, Decoy.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I'm assuming that you're filing as married versus common law since you're waiting for your wedding to take place before you file.

I just wanted to offer a bit of advice: I wouldn't send in your application until you've ordered and received your wedding certificate. The certificate is on the document checklist, and your application may be sent back if it's not included.

Someone who recently submitted her application accidentally received a CIC document checklist that they use to evaluate an application once it is received by the CIC; it was tucked into her paperwork that was sent back to her. The list looks like what they use when it comes to determining if your application is eligible to proceed on to Sponsorship Evaluation.

If you click and look here at number 6, they have "Missing Document: Marriage Certificate." I would say that based on that alone, it'd definitely be an issue if your certificate isn't included in the application. They find it important enough to give it its own number.

Since you'd be applying for PR and Sponsorship as married couple, the marriage certificate is the lone document that allows them to move forward on your case. If you were filing as a common law couple, then you'd have all the necessary paper work and notarized documents to prove that relationship as such. However, once you're married and imply that you are, they need the document.

I highly recommend waiting and ordering your marrige certificate to include in your application before sending it to the CIC. Otherwise, I fear your application will be returned to you. I'd really hate to see your application sent back to you for something as simple as one document. It only takes a few weeks to get once you're married, but it may end up saving you time, money, and frustration in the end.

Good luck, and I hope you have a fantastic wedding!

Oh, that won't be an issue. I live close to my County clerk and at least here, I can drop off the signed forms the day of (or after) my wedding and receive a copy of my marriage certificate at the same time. For here at least, the two week or so wait is if you send the forms by mail, not in person. I asked about that when we applied for our marriage certificate in the first place. Where I live, cross border couples are not unusual and there was even one couple in front of us in line when we went to apply.

Thank you for the concern and advice, though.

We have sent our application package on 12-Nov-2015 received on 13-Nov-2015 signed by R Mahmood.
Hope for the best.
