After receiving SA your application will be sent to the the VO abroad that corresponds to the specific application. Some applications go to Ottawa and others stay in Mississauga, depending on the specific circumstances. In the SA email (or letter) you will be notified where your application will go for Stage2.
After that, it is all a great adventure... anything could happen! The respective VO will try to establish the genuineness of the relationship and they will look into all the paperwork submitted. Some applicants will be asked for more documents, new forms, new medical, or more supporting documents, .... other applicants are fine and they are not requested anything. If everything goes ok eventually (time frames are different for different VOs) applicant will be asked for his/her passport. If the passport is from a visa exempt country, they won't need to send the passport, just copies. In the meantime ECAS will or will not be updated, but usually getting "In process" is a good sign as it shows they are working on the file. "Decision Made" is definitely a sign you will be hearing shortly about the outcome of your application.
Good Luck!
I hope that helps.

Thanks. I guess I should make the visa final payment.

Am I really bad luck :-[

I was super stoked when my partner received his SA email on Feb 14th! especially because I sent an outdated version of IMM1344 from July, and that's the most important form, the undertaking! As soon as I realized that I printed the updated form and sent it to Mississauga, hoping that some good soul would attach it to our application rather than having our whole package returned (as I know has happened to many people). So when we got SA I was relieved that I wouldn't have to reapply and get new police checks etc etc

Good luck all!

Hi everyone! My hubby just messaged me that he received an email saying CIC has received my application! This must be an AOR! I was just so excited and hope the following process wont take too long!

My application arrived CIC on 1 Dec 2014, hope they are moving fast!

BTW my next stage will be SA and then AOR2, what is AOR2? Does decision made come after AOR2?

and Yes, next step for Phase 1 is the SA. Then next AOR (Application of Receipt) is for Phase 2. In which the visa office abroad, where they will process the visa will acknowledge the documents they've receive from Phase 1. Hopefully everyone who are in Phase 2 already will have smooth processing of our papers. ^.^

Should you add your info on the December 2014 spreadsheet then? if your package was received in dec 1st that's technically not nov anymore

After AoR you are going to receive SA, then (according to what I've been reading here) you might or might not get AoR2 from your visa office abroad, apparently not all VOs send AoR2. After AoR2 they'll access your relationship and you as a person, they might request extra documents or an interview (or they might not) and then if you are approved they will request your passport (if you're from a country that requires a visa) or a copy of your passport (if you're from a visa exempt country)

Cant be as bad as mine.

I called CIC to inquire as a lot of people here have received AOR after me (mine was recieved on the 21st) and they told me the application is on hold due to missing information, but they didnt send me an email so I'm guessing it's coming from snail mail. They said the "communication" was issued on Feb 12th and she was not sure whether it was email or snail mail.
