In PR applications under employer-supported PNP streams, IRCC typically verifies the validity of employment at various stages, particularly during eligibility assessment. Officers may confirm whether the job offer supporting the nomination was genuine and valid at the time of issuance and may also check its current status.

Potential Impact on PR Application

1. Inactive Employer Status: If the officer determines that the employer is no longer operating, they may question the validity of the job offer, which could impact the application.

2. Honesty and Proactivity: Misrepresentation or failure to inform IRCC about significant changes in circumstances (e.g., the employer’s status) can negatively affect your application.

Best Solutions:
1. Contact Your Employer:
• Verify the reason behind the “inactive” status on the business portal. It could be an administrative issue, such as late filings, and might be resolvable.
• Request a confirmation letter from the employer stating that the job offer was valid at the time of nomination and clarifying the current situation.

2. Inform the PNP Office:
• Notify Alberta’s PNP program about the employer’s status, if required, and seek advice. Provinces often provide guidance or reassessments in such cases.

3. Prepare a Letter of Explanation (LoE):
• Submit an LoE to IRCC (once you receive your AOR) explaining the situation, including any supporting documents about the employer’s status and the no-restriction clause on your nomination certificate.

4. Seek Alternative Employment (If Possible): • If your stream allows, secure another job offer with an eligible employer in Alberta. Inform the PNP program and IRCC, updating them with the new offer.
Or can I withdraw my application and apply for extension of nomination because my nomination will soon expire, then reapply after the filing (company active) requirements has been met

I also have one question @Miss bee
If I receive my ecopr and on website the timeline for the PR Card is 24 days. However with the ongoing situation of strike from Canada Post have the IRCC setup any alternate mailing system or Canada Post is the only one who is delivering the PR Cards?

Did anyone in the group has received the PR Card during the ongoing Canada Post strike?

I have booked my flights for India for 31st January so can I except PR card to be delivered before that timeframe?

Hi @Miss bee ,

Here is my timeline

PR application submitted May 27, 2024
AOR and BIL received October 4, 2024
Biometrics done October 8, 2024
PAL received October 23, 2024
Medicals passed October 26, 2024

No further update since then.

PVO is NS and SVO is Ottawa

Is Ottawa office slow? Is there anything to worry about?

I also can't find my application on the tracker. Is there any reason why this is not working? I only rely on the GCK portal info.

Kindly share your thoughts. Thank you.

Just sharing my timeline.

PNP NON EXPRESS INLAND

AR
: 16 June 2024
AOR+BIL+ ADR (India PCC): 29 October 2024
BIL (completed): 31 October 2024
ADR (PCC) submission: 31 October 2024
Medicals: 5 December 2024 (sent old medicals via webform on 19 November)
ADR (IMM 5669 Schedule A + Original and Current Employment Letter): 3 December 2024
ADR (IMM 5669 Schedule A + Original and Current Employment Letter) submission: 10 December 2024

Also made a tracker account today that says background in progress and eligibility not started yet.

PVO: Winnipeg
SVO: Sydney CIO

I'm not too concerned about when I reach the next update but rather what my next update would be.

Would it be PAL? or is that after I complete my background and/or eligibility?

Anyone else with a similar timeline?

Background is in progress

They asked for ADR and I submitted it like few hours ago so I don't think it will change this early, probably a few days I guess.

I am just looking for advice on what to expect moving forward.

Hi everyone and @Miss bee

I haven't submitted my PNP non-express entry application yet because I'm waiting for the US police certificate for my wife. We requested it online and mailed the fingerprint card, but I'm unsure if it will take 15 days to process or longer.

We have everything else ready for submission. Should I submit my application without this document and wait for IRCC to request it, or is it better to wait until I have the police certificate and submit everything together?

Thanks for your advice!

You can submit your application and add proof that you've requested US police certificates (like a receipt). Make sure you mention this in the explanation letter. You can later submit them through webform.

If you’re under a tight timeline (e.g., your PNP nomination is expiring or you’re concerned about changes in eligibility rules), submit your application now with an LOE.
• If you have time and expect the police certificate to arrive soon, wait until you receive it to submit a complete application.

It is common for PR applications to experience periods of inactivity, especially after medicals and background checks have been initiated. The Ottawa Secondary Visa Office (SVO) handles a high volume of cases, which can sometimes result in slower processing times compared to other visa offices. Since your application has progressed through key stages, such as medical clearance and the issuance of your PAL, it is a positive sign that your case is being processed steadily.
Regarding the PR tracker, difficulties in linking an application can occur due to minor discrepancies in the information provided during setup (e.g., name formatting, date of birth, or application number). Ensure all details match exactly as they appear in your AOR. If the issue persists, relying on updates through the GCKey portal is perfectly fine, as it remains an official source of information for your application status. At this stage, there’s no need to worry, but patience is key since processing timelines can vary.

The ongoing Canada Post strike, which began on November 15, 2024, has significantly disrupted mail services, including the delivery of PR cards. Currently, Canada Post is the sole delivery service for PR cards, and IRCC has not implemented an alternative mailing system for their distribution. This strike has led to a large backlog of undelivered parcels, with delays expected to continue even after the strike ends as the system returns to normal operations .
There have been reports of IRCC requiring some individuals to pick up their PR cards in person, possibly as a temporary measure to address the postal disruptions. However, this seems to be applied on a case-by-case basis and has not been officially announced as a widespread alternative .
If your flight is scheduled for January 31, 2025, and the postal strike persists, it may be challenging to receive your PR card by that time. You should monitor updates from IRCC and consider contacting them directly to inquire about your situation and potential alternatives, such as in-person card pickup if offered in your case.
Also you can leave Canada without PR card , once you reach India , you can apply for PRTD online from india and it’s currently taking 2-3 weeks to get PRTD.

Hi @Miss bee, question on the travel/supplementary information , since lodging my NON-EE(PNP) inland application last august 2024, i have been in and out of Canada several times for leisure (Philippines, US, Japan), which also meant my most recent date of entry in canada has changed. Should i submit a webform for these updates? if yes, should i do it now or wait until i get AOR?
