I am a member of MIPA Australia, CPA and CMA. Do I need to send copies as well with the application? What difference will it make? As I haven't sent those for my assessment and only sent my BBA and MBA for assessment.niagracalling said:no not specifically. but you hv to provide the membership certificate copy along with your educational documents.
if you are mentioning your educational details in the CIC form you have to attach the copy of supporting documents.mind said:I am a member of MIPA Australia, CPA and CMA. Hi, since you are stating that you are a member of those professional bodies, you have to attach copies of your certifications/membership letters to back it up, that's all. I've done some research on this as well, even before deciding to apply for FSW 2014. I found that there is a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) between the US & Canadian accounting bodies [AICPA/NASBA & CICA (now CPA Canada)]. As a result, persons who are licensed as a CPA in one of the eligible US jurisdictions will be able to register for membership with a Canadian chartered accounting provincial body (only after being assessed as eligible) and ultimately get the CPA, CA designation upon completing the Canadian Reciprocity Exam (CARE). Similarly, Canadian CAs (only) can obtain US CPA after doing the IQEX exam. The reciprocity exam is similar in nature to the one that has to be done for ACCA members to gain reciprocity and become Canadian CGAs in that they require knowledge of Canadian business law and taxation. However, the issue is that it is not as clear cut as it sounds, as there are some residency and practical experience requirements, and hence you will only know if you are eligible for reciprocity by applying to a provincial body and them doing an assessment. It is therefore important to note that not all CPAs in all US jurisdictions are eligible for this reciprocity. There are 2 paths - One with a 4-step process and one with a 6-step process. Hence, there are instances where US CPAs licensed in some jurisdictions will still have to do the Professional Education Program (PEP) and Uniform Evaluation (UFE) [2 additional steps, though CARE is not required in this instance]. Therefore, if you haven't yet been licensed, choose carefully.
Refer to the links below for more details:
Information for all of Canada (showing the different pathways available):

Information for Ontario:

Another thing that I have found is that the annual membership fees for the Canadian chartered accounting bodies are HIGH ! Like in total approaching CAD 1,000 and more!
Darn, that looked like quite a bit of stuff was missing.F_S_W said:Guys,
on the main FSW 2014 thread, a valuable member (forum name - ToCanadawithLove - unfortunately he got his file returned) has posted "Reason of Returns Letter" written by CIC to him. he has uploaded the whole letter.
This is the checklist which CIC use to verify whether our applications are complete or not (when they receive our applications at CIO -NOVA SCOTIA)
so i request to you (everyone) who is going to apply, please read this document carefully and make sure you do not make any mistake which is listed.
click on the image, it will become large.
please also pray for that member, may God help him to get success for his new application.

This unit group includes professional occupations in finance not elsewhere classified such as financial planners, financial examiners and inspectors, financial investigators, financial underwriters, mortgage brokers and trust officers. They are employed by banks, trust companies, investment firms and governments, or they may be self-employed.
Financial planners develop personal financial plans for clients covering cash management, finances, insurance coverage, investments, retirement and estate planning, taxes and legal matters; analyze clients' financial records, set goals and develop a financial strategy; advise clients on implementing the financial plan to help them achieve their goals; may also arrange for the purchase and sale of financial products and investments depending on the licence held, and monitor the portfolio to ensure its quality and profitability; and help to expand business and attract new clients.
Hi, yes you can apply. The list you see on the NOC site is not restrictive or exhaustive but just descriptive. Financial planners work also in the medical industry, educational sector even the military. All the bestlets_go_somewhere_else said:Hi everybody,
I am working as a financial planner for a big private corporation. I am taking care of different tasks such as cash flow management, budget analysis, calculating taxes and planning! But I again reiterate, I am not hired by bank! I am working for a private corporation!
I want to know if I can apply under NOC 114?
