@Teeomisore,

Your husband is in a field that has global demand especially if he has a professional certification to back it up ICAN, CISA, ACCA etc. If he does not its better he starts now.

@ maikudi,

Bros thanks for your advice, i dont know about ICAN OR ACCA, but he is going to enrol for CISA, also when we get to manitoba by God's grace, he has to enrol at the securities institute to become a certified Personal financial planner, this however will be the start of a long line of certifications he will have to get to become a chartered canadian banker...na wah...God is able. me however, i dont have a lot of certifications to do, i will have to be in manitoba to know the training i will need as my job will involve marketing, sales and regulation matters in the oil and gas industry...but i am also looking at their agriculture industry as their oil and gas sector is not so prominent...i want to seriously sharpen my excel skills, what else do you think i can begin to do in the line of improving myself. your advice is always appreciated.

na wah, its really an aimless hustle ;D because at the end of the day, my husband and i are no longer deceiving ourselves as things are not adding up to all the hard work here . like a friend used to say...abroad na 'leveler' and that's what i love most about it, my husband is a banker but as i am typing these words he has made up his mind to get himself trained in driving the forklift and even considering learning how to weld at a decent company where he can get a reference letter. he wants to start this once we get our LOA and he can take his leave at work. not that he will not aim to work in his chosen profession but abeg, from experience we know only too well that some of these jobs we look down on here really do pay far more than the white collar jobs do and nobody dey look you as long as your hustle is blessed...at least na UK i see say plumber dey marry banker because nobody send u, its well paying honest work jare...

@ Maikudi, bros how r u and the family...lets all keep praying for the best in record time.
even me dey c

lilbro...no be lie ;D...for where God dey, Havard is a small sontin...your kids will excel even beyond that level IJN...yes ooo crane operator is not a bad idea and what i believe is that one needs to really learn these things so that you can get a naija license stating that you are permitted to and can operate such a machine. that way when you get to manitoba, it will form proof of your ability before you get their own permit there to prove that you can work the crane...nice one.

Stuff to bring when coming to Canada.

1. Bring the phone or Tablets that you are presently using. This will save you up to 50% of phone contract payment.
2. Please buy some couple of clothes like jeans, shirts and some natives either Yoruba or Igbo attire, you will need it. Please don't forget your shoes that you will be wearing around before you finally settle down and start buying stuff.
3. For parents, endeavour to come with the records of your children's immunization; this will help them get admitted into kindergarten or elementary school. (It is a strong requirement). Also it will help your new Canadian doctor to know where your Nigerian doctors stopped.
4. It is also important that you come along with all letters of recommendations, drawings if you work as an Architect or an Engineer and all your works as these will help you prove that you have experience in the job you will be looking for. It is also a pre-requisite for you to get a more professional job or admission at the university.
5. Please bring plenty of menthol based cream like, ROBB, ABONIKI and the likes. You will need it in winter.
6. Please bring African foods because they are expensive here.
7. Please bring passport photographs that conforms to the specifications indicated by CIC on their website. Taking passport photograph at Walmart or Shoppers drug mart are very expensive. $26.00 plus 13% tax for 2 copies.
8. Bring along your valid driver's license with which you are eligible to drive for 90 days and get accustomed to their road laws and all that. You will also need the same driver license in the process of obtaining your class 5A Canadian license. Here no be like Naija ooo....lol

These will suffice for now. I Will provide more information as time goes on. Wish you all God's speed and cheers

Exactly my point. What's the point of a white collared job when u can start to make money immediately and get that certification u nid to get a collared job in the future.

@ Mercy4life, your contribution is greatly valued and encouraging most especially for those of us who applied through the paper documentation application and have been waiting for so long a time. May God continue to uphold you. From your timeline, the period of your application to when your application was approved is almost 18months which shows that those of us who applied in march 2013 are still much in the race and should be getting prepared for what God want to do in our lives. I prayed that our application would encounter the favour of God like that of yours. Thanks in a million 'cos you've greatly helped a brother in dilemma of what next. Enjoy Godspeed

@ Lilbro I agree with you.

Some times the "labour intensive" jobs pay a whole lot better than the supposed white collar ones.

Na real wah o.

This change of certification from ACCA to CGA...

I have been wondering if I should do it whilst in Nigeria.

It costs about $600 and I wont be needing it unless I am leaving in Canada.

so confused!!!

@ O Gucci,

this is my 2 kobo advice, there is no need to be confused, i believe you have put in for your application already... :)...if you don't need this certification here in Nigeria, i will advice you to do it when you get to Manitoba, that's why there are start up jobs you can manage while getting relevant certifications that will help you on your path to success in your chosen profession...and as a plus for me, i believe getting more training in Canada is better as they really do prefer their own land as the place you got your training.
