Hi all..

I have a query. Its regarding the name in my passport. In my passport, the Given name(s) alone is present, Vinita Arvind and there is no Surname
My husband in in Canada and will be sponsoring me. When i came across the generic application form, it says..'name as per travel document'.
So since as per my records, i don't have a surname in passport, what do i type in the surname column? Or shall i put Vinita in Given name(s) and Arvind in Surname?

Reply to the same is highly appreciated

Many thanks

i might be wrong, but we had a similar confusion in our application and we submitted it the way its written in the passport.
you might get better responses if you direct this question to the new delhi 2014 forum.

It will be as written on passport. My sister in law had the same issue so her application her first name remained as first name and kaur is middle name but it was used as last name but the only thing is that all your Canadian id's will have the same like SIN card, health card, Licence etc. But you don't have much of a choice unless you want to change it on your passport as well which will only delay your application.

Calgariandoll is Right.

You have two options

1) You can right first and last name separately

or

2) You can right as it is (Given name - XXXXXXX and last name --- FNU) (FNU stands for people who don't have last name) CIC know this...

We got married couple of weeks ago. My husband is a Canadian divorcee. We got married as per the Muslim rites and law and have only a nikah nama and marriage certificate signed and issued by the priest who conducted and presided over our nikah . We took this to the marriage officer at the local BMC office. They refuse to register the nikah nama stating that they cannot register a marriage with a foreign national divorcee and asked us to go to the family court in Bandra. They are saying that they do not accept the Divorce decree and Divorce Order copies from Canada as these are only one page and are asking us to file for his divorce decree in the Indian court. (Tell me this is a joke). He's never lived here, nor has his ex-wife. He's divorced for a decade. How can they file for a divorce here in India, AGAIN?!?

I'm so totally confused running from one office to another and don't know where to make a start from. It feels like I'm banging my head against a wall.

My questions are
1. how can I get the nikahmana registered? He has left for Canada. I'm here and need to get these documents organised.
2. Can and will the nikah nama and marriage certificate issued by the presiding priest and institution suffice as proofs of marriage? Should I get these notarised or some thing else to make them look as more solid proofs? (so confused and frustrated already!). We have plenty of other evidences, eg wedding card, photos, nikah photos, nikahnama signing photos, all ceremonies photos, bills and invoices of skype calls, hotels, whatsapps texts, phone messages etc.

PLEASE HELP, PLEASE!!!

Well that stupid of them. His nationality is Canadian or Indian? Because i heard if you're indian then you must get divorce in India and Canada I don't know if that's true. Did you ask if you could get a notarized and attested copy of divorce order? Or maybe an affidavit from India? But honestly it sounds like they just want to gulp money down their throats.

You should also try New Delhi 2014 applicants forum for responses

No one's giving any proper reply. He's a Canadian citizen by birth. Thanks, I have posted this to the ND 2014 as well.

Decision on which stage?

once the file comes to New Delhi then it takes somewhere between 12 to 15 months.

It usually takes 10 to 30 days after the interview. It also depends on medical (if it's expired or not or it can extend)
hi dear but about my case 80 days pass after interview still IP... they moron dont think about it they just play with our life....

Made this thread for the new applicants applying in 2015 i request all new applicants of NEW DELHI for the Spousal Visa Category only to join this forum and share your timelines. GOOD LUCK to everyone and speedy visa's !! Cheesy

hey are you sure you want to restrict it only for Spouse? I couldn't find any thread regarding sponsoring a child, It may be less applicants comparing to Spousal, but it does exist :)
