Hi there everyone

Hope all are fine.

I am getting married in Feb 2014 in India and I want to apply for pr as soon as possible after wedding.
All of you have applied and worked with NDVO. So can you please help me what I should take care of while applying for pr for my spouse?
So that process is smooth and completed early.

Thanks to everyone.

congrats..please plan the application process properly..collect all documents such as phone calls to your fiance; family members (would be in-laws better); email conversations; chats etc prior to marriage and after marriage. Trips taken after marriage proofs; photos of trips with your spouse; marriage proof with family members attending...most importantly don't leave immediately (within a week) for Canada after getting marrying this will raise suspicion

anisha's friend from her native place.........got a call and she confirmed it right now...we both were in shock coz we both are april applicant and her friends wondering how come anisha hasn't got it as yet since she is 2nd april applicant ....

dealing with NDVO is like a soap opera...laugh when the wait is finally over; shocked when an end of may applicant receives change in status; cry when people have to wait for more than a year

great!! not only annoyed with lack of transparency now it is lack of priority now (not they have a first come first served policy)...May 28th applicant is getting status change ahead of guys before him/her...I have better luck playing roulette or jackpot in casinos...

First of all, Congratulations on getting married! It's a long process so it's great that you are planning ahead.
Here are my tips/suggestions:

1. Learn to have lots of patience, because you don't want to be pulling your hair out with frustration at the antics of the NDVO and the MP and their lack of information and response to your questions.
2. Email, Skype and/or call your spouse everyday if you already don't. So you can collect records of all that interaction like phone bills, email printouts, etc.
3. Download all the forms and look over the questions to get an idea of what types of questions will need to be answered (don't print them because they can change the forms next year so you don't want to submit the old ones or they will return your application). You can fill in most forms on your computer. Download the latest forms before you go to India to get married as you will need your spouse's signatures on some of the pages.
4. Find out where the nearest medical office is to your spouse. There are only specific places that can do your spouse's medicals. Also what is needed for the PCC ( police clearance certificate)
5. Take lots of photos with your spouse... Before the wedding, at the wedding, after the wedding, honeymoon, trips, visits, outings, shopping, etc. Don't forget to take photos that include extended family members like parents, siblings, grand parents, friend, aunts, uncles, and the entire town of people invited to your wedding...lol
6. Be actively involved on your forum because you will receive great advice and encouragement from all your fellow members who are in the same boat. And you will make lots of friends!

It's a good place to start... For now. Good luck! :D :D :D :D

Waiting to exhale and desi girl have already answered but I would just like to add
Apply for your option c printout from the incom tax department.
Take affidavits from some of the close relatives .
Get the copy of air tickets of all the family members and relatives that are coming to India for your wedding.
You should stay for atleast 20 days after wedding and you must go for a honeymoon this will make your case stronger.
Take the bills for all the hotel room, wedding clothes, venues booked for wedding and other functions.
You also have to get your marriage registered in India so plan in advance as you need to collect lot of documents for that also.
Please check all the forms are signed before sending the application because even if one signature is missing they will send your application back.
