hi .. i am new in this forum...i had applied for the spouse visa and itz been three months i had send my passport to the NDVO after i recieved an email from the embassy.. so my question is how long are they going to take for making a decision?... plz help

Hi Guys,

I had stopped checking my Ecas since last week as there used to be no positive change. I checked it today and i saw that my file went in process. They started processing my file on 26th sept. My timeline is:
Applied on 18th March 2013
Sponsorship Approved on 9th April 2013
PPR 26th April 2013
PP submitted on 9th May 2013
In Process 26th September 2013

My medical will expire on 9th November 2013.

Sponsorship Approved on 9th April 2013
PPR 26th April 2013
PP submitted on 9th May 2013
In Process 26th September 2013

My medical will expire on 9th November 2013.

Hi

just curious as to how long it might take to get my medicals? I received email from CIC- Sydney, Nova Scotia saying application received and sent to VO-Delhi on Sep 26th. 2013. E-CAS also updated application received. How long will it take to get my medicals now? Also will I receive my medicals and passport request together or separately? I think I will get a AOR from VO-Delhi before I get my medical request, is that true?

I applied through MPNP - family stream. This whole thing is taking too long time. I have run out of patience

Pls help me with the timeline here with VO- Delhi. How long as to the whole process or each step to getting visa might take?

You should be hearing it very soon... as ur medicals are expiring on Nov first week

Below is the update in ecas:

1. We received your application for permanent residence on December 7, 2011.

2. We started processing your application on October 4, 2013.

3. Medical results have been received.

4. A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.


Here is my take on all who are waiting:

When you look at our case, we got sponser approval 2 years ago. But nothing moved in our file, as there were few items missing. The last "missing" item was sent over on Oct 4th, and as soon as that was sent, the visa has been issued.

It is frustrating to wait and the wait seems to defy logic. We all seem to think first-in first-out. But not necessarily. Think of railway reservation counters. Just because you went in your lane sooner than another guy who went in a different lane, doesnt mean yours would be done sooner. The guy in front of you can delay it for you, just because he has a complicated case etc. The line next to you could be moving sooner.

One more thing I have noticed is, that the immigration officer reviews your case, and if he finds something missing, he put off your case for 4-6 weeks, and this cycle continues.

I have had experience with immigration over 4 times. First myself 15 years ago, my wife, my dad, and now..it is frustrating wait. But once it happens, you will forget all the pain of waiting...

One advice I can give you all who are looking to come to Canada. Coming to Canada is easiest part (all the frustrating waits included). But the biggest challenge is you need to plan on what you want to do here. You should be looking to keep yourself busy here. Life is not as easy as we seem to think. And it can be very easy if we plan to keep ourselves occupied. Think of how you intend to keep yourself occupied. Just being a spouse and taking care of the family isnt enough.

Finally, good luck to you all. Canada is an excellent place to settle down. No doubts about that. However, you would need to work for it to make it a heaven for yourselves.

Did they notify you in time that it was missing?

There was one medical form which was missing...
Due to the nature of our case, we couldnt send out all the documents when we applied, as we were waiting to receive those documents..

I had to read twice your post to see if I got it wrong. Your file was transferred on Sept. 26th and now you are saying' you are running out of patience'. You must be joking. The standard time frame for processing is 11 months but some people have been waiting for more than a year. Typically it takes anywhere from 6 months (if your stars are well aligned and the moon is smiling upon you) to 1 year (rarest one can extend to 1.5 years in complicated cases or your application fell through cracks). We might expect you to start cursing NDVO sometime starting from 8 months and beyond. And the clock is ticking.

Your railways counter analogy is apt. But in that case, there is transparency. If I ask the railway clerk why the delay, he might tell me the problem (or yell at me if nothing else. I get something for asking, unlike NDVO). But in NDVO case, I have no idea what is happening. In your case, NDVO took many months to let you know what was missing. If there was a mechanism by which they would let the applicant know what was happening, it would be great. But government office being government office, that's the way it works. No point in complaining. It is the 'system' dude (I sound like a radical teenager) and it stinks. Cowabunga, dude (no idea what it means but it sounds hip and cool)
