Although we recieved our passports at mailing adress, here is something intresting. I emailed ND last night asking about any tracking details for my passport and they replied
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.
Please be advised that your documents were delivered to VFS on Jan 7th. Please check with VFS for your passport or see the VFS website for information regarding the tracking of your visa application at http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/visatracking.html
We trust that this information will be of assistance.

But what VFS, we never sent PP via VFS and had no tracking/receipt #. However, I have learnt from parents forum that 1 user sent passport via VFS in May ( VFS does act as a courier only mode too ) and he picked up his PP form there. Now seeing above comment, I believe ND sends all to VFS which perhaps mails to local addresses and calls those who had used their service to send passports
So unless the email handler was mistaken, either way FYI for future, those who are asked to send PP - use VFS as its way better to tracking it when reaching ND and when it comes back
