Hi,

Looks like there is some change in the process since I applied on 25th Nov 2013 & in the ecas i see below updates with My wife Indian address.

1) Ur application is received on 25th Nov 2013.
2) Medicals received.

I just got one acknowledgement mail stating ur application is received on 25th Nov.

Should i reach out to them asking if sponsorship approval is done?

Sure, no harm in inquiring because they seem to be taking some time. At least medicals were updated so they have your file.

OMG!!
After a long wait of 296 days, i received my passport with SHINY visa
i was there at my parent's place yesterday (8-jan) when i received my hubby's call from canada telling me the good news.. i rushed back today to my in laws to see what was unbelieveable-- My SHINY Visa......
I am very very thankful to all the people here at this forum for guiding me and providing me with useful information..

Guys, just keep patience. God + NVDO will listen to your prayers soon.. i wish each one of u a speedy visa...

Congrats to all the fellow members on getting their visas, DMs n IPs....
For the rest do not lose hopes and things do happen when they are bound to happen....

And a case update from my side....

After I sent my PP thru a friend from US to India, my sister posted it to Delhi & it reached on 17th Dec.
I gave her address as my contact address for PP to be sent back along with a signed consent form.
Today i.e 9th Jan arnd 4 PM IST, my sister received a call from CHC Delhi and was asked few questions like
If she is a sister of mine, and when was the last time I was in India and when did I leave again and that is it.... (Nthng abt addr confirmation or case status, My ecas still shows IP)
My poor sis immediately called me and informed this, and is worried whether she has properly talked or not... I asked her to relax and said she's fine and did grt in answering those...
But now I am wondering what tht starnge call was about...
And othr thing tht concerns me is the entire nxt week my sis n her family will be outta town and the house will be locked., Considering things move qwik and what if the PP comes during tht week..
I dont want it to be returned to delhi ...
Any suggestions/ideas abt this friends...like handling the postman or postmastrer or visiting post office and somehow asking them to hold it with them?

Hey, long time no see. Glad to know that your passport has safely reached NDVO. Hope you get it back soon with your visa. Check with postal services if they can hold it for your sister.

guys...my husband picked up his passport with VISAAA...finallyyyyy the waiittt is over...he will get here in canada on january 14th...yayyyyy...soooooooooo happppyyyyyyyyyy....visa is valid till 22 feb omggg..soo happyyy cant express in words....goood luck guyss...hope everyone get to feeeel these emotions ASAP.....

First of all i haven't yet read the posts i have missed while sleeping.. So i am gonna reply later to those by you guys..secondly got a call from ndvo...right now nothing to get excited about !!
She just asked my dob n my address where i would like the post n said thankyou without informing me anything.
I quickly asked her when can I expect my pp she said i cant comment on that...then i asked has decision been made... She said no it is still in ip..!

Today, i got the status change from IP to DM, after 3 long months, since October.
Application received - May 15, 2013
Passport Requested - July 20, 2013
Passport sent - August 4, 2013
Status change to In Process - Oct 31, 2013
Medicals Requested - Nov 20th, 2013
Medicals received updated - Dec 13th, 2013
Decision Made - Jan 9th, 2014

ok then tell me where to start , now i decided to apply by myself.

There are checklists online with the forms that you need to fill out and submit. You also need to get police clearance and medicals if you are the applicant. Gather all evidence of your time spent with your spouse.. this includes photos (outing, wedding, reception, engagement, etc), emails, phone bills, etc.

The application forms are straight forward, the guide helps a lot.

The family class applications with the application guide can be found on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp website

perhaps you can tell the post office that is in charge of distributing the mail your area to hold all mails for a week....postal service doesn't send mail back after one try..they try three times before they send it back...

yep.. seems like thts the only viable option now, provided our postal system has tht facility at all.

Yah Orion... Jus hoping even our Indian postal dept can do tht holding the mail thing if rqrd....

Robin, they were probalby just confirming to make sure the story checks out, nothing to worry about. Since a PP is the most legal document you possess it's just a standard procedure.

If, you are requesting for the PP to be returned before DM and re-submitting it again at a later time then my GUESS is that they would just return it to the given address without confirmation.

If you are submitting as part of the 'waiting for DM' process then you will only received it after ECAS updates to DM. They might or might not call you to verify address. My wife for example got her passport via registered post yesterday without any confirmation.

Not sure how it works in India, but in Canada you can put a request at the post office to hold your mail for a given duration. I'm sure if you have someone visit your local post office and enquire they can make some sort of provision for you... might have to spend some $$$ i mean Rs. Rs. Rs but sure if they are honest they will just do it for you.
