I had applied in september 2012. I am single. Hence I dont have any dependents. Also, I was on work permit since last 5 years. I came back to India in Jan 2013.

It will not speed up the processing for sure. Even after having done upfront medicals, I still expect that CIC will send the MR and I will have to write back to them confirming that I have already got it done.
My dependants are travelling to India and will not return until the year end or early 2014.
Jan 2013 applicants (excl. exceptions) should start receiving MR's by Aug provided the ongoing strike does not continue for long.
You can refer to CIC portal physician list in NW and call them up to check for upfront medicals.

It will not speed up the processing as most of the medicals are sent electronically anyway. It may save you a couple of weeks (I had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment). I completed upfront medicals as my company will pay for them at present and I just wanted to get them out of the way.

Andy did you submit anything to cic after your medical to inform them you went for upfront medicals and provided them your IME number to link with your UCI?

Yes. The physician did provide me 'e-Medical Up-front medical notification form' which had photo, UMI number and the bar code generated to be sent to CIC.

Yes. I emailed the scanned copy to this ID. After 3 reminders, CIC acknowledged receipt.

Doctor confirmed me that he submitted our medicals to CIC and I paid RPRF.

I went for medical exam a week ago I guess a week is enough for them to process reports and send it to CIC. (by the way I did e-medicals)
