He's on an LMO at the moment. Is that going to affect my ability to apply for him as outbound?
no. one thing has nothing to do with the other.

I guess our fear with continuing with outbound is how long does it take until the PR is completely finished. We're reading 28 months IF it's send to LA and with no ability to have a work permit that leaves him doing nothing for over a year?

that is not accurate. most us applications are processed in ottawa. it's currently taking 7ish months for total processing. it was 5-6 this summer and fall, and has slowed slightly since the holidays. it goes up and down regularly. IF (and that's a big IF), the application gets transferred to LA because of an interview, the processing time seems to be closer to 12-16 months. the major reasons for interviews are criminal issues, dependant issues or relationship validity issues. if an application is solid and there are no issues, then it will see "normal" processing. either way, it's still way faster than inland!

The processing times online don't reflect JUST family class pr application. it is a calculation of all types of applications sent to that specific office, represents worst case scenarios and are stats from last year.

I cannot thank everyone enough for the information you all have provided.

A silly question, my applications are being downloaded as we speak. What part of it would clearly determine/state whether the applicant wanted to be inland or outbound? I want to be sure I do this correctly

the forms you are filling out, the checklists you use and where you mail the application to determine the type of application. inland and outland have different requirements and checklists. besides writing on the envelop whether it's an outside of canada application, you don't actually state it in the application. it's not necessary.

I'm going through those now. In the Document Checklist for USA #10 Proof of Relationship to Sponsor - it shows quite the number of things for "proof" (photos, airline tickets, letters, etc.). Would our marriage certificate not suffice in this case? We've been married since 2012.

You need to include other proof, to show that the relationship had been established PRIOR to the day you were married.

your marriage certificate is not "proof". the marriage certificate is a required document to prove the marriage is legal. a marriage certificate only proves a marriage has been performed, and does not prove the validity of the relationship, which is what cic is looking for. remember, cic is concerned about fraudulent marriages. there are many fraudulent and "legal" marriages, so a marriage certificate certainly won't cut it as "relationship proof". "relationship proof" is anything that shows that your relationship is ongoing and known to family and friends such as pictures of you two alone and with people, pictures of gifts given, snapshots from social media, emails, copies of cards, trip itineraries/tickets, etc. it is best to give a sampling of different times in the relationship.

Okay. We're a little worried as our relationship began online and all those chats were through an old messenger that saved the logs to local PC (which we no longer own). My husband was also not the biggest fan of taking his pic so we have some but not a ton. The biggest worry is our marriage was non traditional. Neither of us believed in having a big fancy ceremony so we did a civil marriage.

Would letters from friends/family who have known us through our relationship help?

Also wanted to add we have found a few FB entries of us together. Do we screen shot those and send a print of the screenshot? I do apologize for my lack of knowledge in the area. We're scrambling to do this after finding out a lot of the CEC apps were returned.

you don't need actual logs. just referencing the way we communicated was enough in our application. if you feel the need to, you can explain why you didn't have copies to include.

there are many people who don't have large weddings. having a civil ceremony or a small wedding does not make it less authentic or legitimate. . anything you have from that day will work, an invite, pictures, a menu, etc. anything you have that shows your relationship is on going will help

yes, screenshots are fine. i did screen shots for specific posts about trips/events/outing for each year of our relationship.
