Thanks keesio. I tried IE but all it does is crash when I try and open the form.. I found the form another way but not sure if it is the latest most updated one from the site? On the bottom front left corner of the pages it says in small print: IMM 1344 (11-2011) E Seems like that would be an older form?

Yeah that is old. Looking at the pdf from the url your posted, the date on that one is June 2014.

right-click on that url (assuming you are using a Windows based PC) and then use the option to save to a file on your computer.

That finally worked, yay! Thank you 8)

Good! Just out of curiosity, were you using FireFox? The issue I suspect you were running into is that the default integrated PDF reader for FireFox (and Chrome too) does not handle some of the PDFs from CIC well. You need to use another reader (like actual Adobe Reader). You can change the default PDF reader to Adobe via 'Tools -> Options -> Applications' and change the setting for PDF.

No I am using Chrome.. I tried the tools when I bring Chrome up but it doesn't seem to have the options part.. As you all can tell I am not very computer savvy and when things just won't work it's hard to figure it all out. Got to go to bed soon and all I managed today was to download the 53 pages of the guide after a battle to get it to print, then was stuck on that first form to try and see etc.. Thanks for all the help everyone :)

Some questions for form 1344.

For question (1) I put withdraw my application and return funds if I'm found ineligible to sponsor. Should I have put proceed?

For question (3) I put no co-signer as she is my spouse, but they make that one confusing by stating two different answers from the form to the Guide etc.

For my name it says to put it exactly as shown on your passport or travel document. I have no passport yet or travel doc so can I just put it as written on my birth certificate?

Thanks and back to it for me :)

For question 1 I would say return, do not proceed. Since if you are found ineligible to sponsor and you put proceed, they'll send it off, deny your application and you will have quite the headache!

I can't remember about the co-signer part.. sorry :-[

And yes put it as on your birth cert :)

Thank you Zarilenth :)

It says: "Only your spouse or common-law partner can co-sign this application" then right under that it has a note that says: " If you are sponsoring your spouse or common-law partner, you cannot have a co-signer." Kind of confusing lol.. I'm siding with clicking no co-signer ??

Oh yeah one more ? I left out my email address thinking it may be better.. It says if you include it everything will go via email.. Is this a good or bad thing?

Ah, yes. We did not put a co-signer for that.

everyone suggests to tick to withdraw the application and have funds returned. If an application is sent on without an approved sponsor, it will not be approved and the money will be lost.

the co-signer is if a husband and wife are sponsoring a family member together. I can't tell if you are the applicant or sponsor. Eitherway, in this case there is 1 sponsor and 1 applicant. No cosigners.

Since I can't tell if you are the sponsor or applicant, i'm not sure how important having a passport is. If you are the applicant, I would imagine a passport is needed before even applying. It is the travel document needed for getting into canada. How else have you been able to visit canada? If you are the sponsor, i'm not sure if it's important to have the passport or not. I would imagine they are asking for your full legal name, so how it is written on your birth certificate.

Considering a copy of a passport is a required document for both applications, how are you proceeding with supplying a copy of a passport if you don't have one?

I'm the sponsor, a Canadian by birth who's always lived in Canada.. I did not know I needed a passport, haven't gotten that far yet to find it out.. I do have an application to get my passport mailed off..

Should I put my email address on form 1344? It says everything will go there if I do, is this a good idea?

yes, definitely supply an email, otherwise you will have to wait to receive every notification by canada post. Email is a quicker and easier way for them to communicate with you.

Thank you!

Does anyone know which of these forms my wife needs to fill out and also where to find the instruction guide for them? No children or dependents, it's just me the Canadian husband Sponsor and her the American applicant. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3910e.pdf

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/index.asp Here are a list of all the forms

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp#immigrate - this is the site with all the forms you and your wife need to fill out, I assume you're applying OUTLAND, not INLAND, but your wife can 'visit' and stay with you.
Of course you do not need to fill all these out, but that's your job to take the ones that don't apply out.
Ex: Use of a Representative [IMM 5476], you wouldn't need if you don't have a Representative.
Also, you wouldn't need:
Additional Dependants/Declaration [IMM 0008DEP] if your wife has no dependants she wants to bring along.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Zarilenth I will see what I can find.. I think I'm going to need to try and hire someone to walk us through it all.. Some stuff is really not so clear, at least to me etc.. Yes we are applying Outland.
