Yes, she should list your details on IMM 5406.

The forms are very generic and many questions don't apply to everyone. For the majority of people, question 28 makes perfect sense. The answer is usually yes, they are living together. For the couples that aren't living together, the majority were married or together outside of Canada and are now living apart because the sponsor is a PR and was required to return to Canada during the process or the sponsor came back to Canada ahead of time to prepare for the spouse's arrival. Your situation is the minority.

Anything that you can't properly answer, just explain on a separate sheet. Select No, put N/A for the date and explain.

Just list me though right, not her parents too etc? That one is confusing lol..

She came here to Canada and lived with me for 364 days and we were married at about the 357th day she was here.. I never went to the US but the question 28 on that form doesn't allow for that fully without leaving the date area blank etc.. Thanks I will just leave a page explaining that on a separate piece of paper then and write in N/A

When filling out ANYTHING in the app, think of it like this: if she can fill it in, it's required. If she sprung to life from magic air and has no parents, then she wouldn't be able to fill out that section. If she was born to parents like the rest of us, then she can fill it out, so she must fill it out.

lol no she didn't do that Canuck. I was just making sure that they are not implying that she would be bringing her family with her at some point etc., It's just her that I'm sponsoring and as I mentioned these things are not my forte ..

I didn't imagine that she did, I was just trying to use a good example :).

Listing them in no way means that she is bringing them, nor does it mean that you are sponsoring them.

Thank you and sorry for the late reply, work is crazy :'(

Here's another dumb question that I just seem to need to ask ;D I mailed off our marriage certificate to my wife yesterday so she can change her last name to mine as that is what she wishes, and I forgot to include form 1344 for her to sign and mail back, doh! Can I fold the form to put in a normal size letter envelope to send off to her, or will they frown upon that when they get it and see the creases from being folded before?

they aren't going to care and i doubt they will even notice 1 page is folded in a package of many forms/documents. I bet other pages are going to have creases too!

Sorry if I'm imposing on this topic but I do have a quick question about IMM 5409- question 28

"are you currently living with your sponsor"

When I submit my application I will be visiting with my husband for 6 months. Technically I'm not LIVING with him. So, I would write NO I am not currently living with my sponsor. Correct?

I know how I'm trying to word this question in my head but it doesn't seem to be typing out exactly how I want it to. Hopefully this makes sense. haha.

That question has caused pause for many of us, myself included, as at the border we are visiting not living but for this instance, you are residing in Canada. Because on one other form it asks both your address at the moment and your status in Canada and you put visitor so you're covered. ;)

Well we still haven't submitted our paperwork due to time needed to gather everything but it will all be mailed off next week, yay!

So my wife left Canada to go back to the US back on June 29/14. And today she is flying back here and right now is sitting at the airport in Montreal after missing her connecting flight to Moncton, but AWESOME! they let her through! :) So after 2.5 months we will be in each others company again tonight <3.

Question! When she came here the first time they never stamped her passport. This time the agent stamped her passport but it is stamped with today's date Sept 13/14 only. Is that okay? I thought that they stamped it the day you needed to leave by? Thanks :)

Perfectly normal. Today's date means that she has the standard 6 months. Around the 5 month mark, she can submit an extension app to stay longer.

AWESOME! 8) (sorry for the happy shouting ;D)

Thanks Canuck! I was thinking the stamped date was when you had to leave so that would have been odd lol.. So even though she has a return flight for Oct 26/14 we can just not use it and she has a legal stay here again for 6 months?

Make sure that you are sending the latest versions of all of the forms.

I know that at least one form [IMM1344] was revised last month and a few August applicants had their entire application returned because they submitted the old form.

Congratulations on being reunited!
