Thank you Zarilenth I will see what I can find.. I think I'm going to need to try and hire someone to walk us through it all.. Some stuff is really not so clear, at least to me etc.. Yes we are applying Outland.
I would really advise against hiring someone when you have this forum! I thought I had no idea how to do it, but I managed to fill it out all on my own, with no complications, and was approved in 5 months (my husband is American). It'll save you a ton of money just asking questions here :)

Thank you we can't afford a lawyer to help us anyhow, but I have so many questions and the way some things are worded stumps me as I don't know what the proper answer to put is.. Plus I feel like it may be annoying asking so many questions to stuff that seems so simple for you all. :-\

For instance I cannot find the instruction guide that explains question 3 on the IMM0008 form? Does she include me or just put 1? And I pressed the remove dependent section as we have none.. I guess she would be my dependent when we get to whatever form asks that lol

You need to really read through the guide, as the information is there.

The guide states:

Who should be included in this application?

If you are being sponsored as a member of the family class, your spouse or common-law partner (except where your spouse or common-law partner is the sponsor) must be included in your application as a family member.

So as the sponsor, you are not considered a family member for the purposes of this application.

Okay thanks but I can't find that statement anywhere's. It would seem as it reads to me that I am her family and listed on her form 10008 so she should put 2 but I guess not.. Just trying to not have it all sent back for silly stuff..

I'm going to take a break as it's too stressful right now and I hardly get a chance to work on it and when I do I spend 5 hours trying to figure out how I should answer something and get nowhere really.. I think I will see if there is someone via kijiji that can walk me through it all for a small fee etc.. On some questions they start out by saying one thing and then seem to contradict it all over again lol..

I guess this is easier for the peeps that got the good grades and sailed through class at school back in the day :) Not so much for me lol

You are not included.

If you can't find that statement, I'm guessing that you aren't actually reading the correct guide, as I copied it word for word. There are 2 guides and 2 checklists to follow, one each for the sponsor and the applicant.

Start here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp.

The sponsor guide is right under "Part 1 - Sponsorship Forms". http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp

The applicant guide is right under "Part 2 - Immigration Forms". http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp

Thank you Canuck! :)

I was working off of guide 3900 for me the Sponsor, and when I clicked this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3910e.pdf I couldn't find any instructions to walk me through imm0008 for my wife in the USA etc..

I appreciate all the help everyone and sorry if it seems like I'm not getting it lol :-\

So if it's just her and I, no children or any other family members, am I right to assume she just needs the: Document Checklist for USA, Form IMM0008,Form IMM5669, Form5406??, and Form IMM5490? (not sure if she needs 5406?)

She DEFINITELY needs 5406, additional family information. Only the applicant fills this out (even though it says for her spouse to fill it out, they are not referring to a spouse that is a sponsor, only if a spouse is also applying TO BE sponsored by) If she doesn't send it, the package will be considered incomplete. Follow the checklists. The ONLY form that isn't needed is the dependant form. everything else is needed!

Okay I will try my best and thanks.. I printed off the 62 pages of her guide the IMM 3999. I think we will try and do all her stuff first, then I will do my stuff next as the Sponsor..

They could have sure made things a lot clearer! I mean Guide 3900 and 3999 have the exact same title! And in Form IM 10008 on question 3 it says to refer to the guide, okay great! but it doesn't say refer to Guide 3999! it says nothing....... doh!

Print off the 2 checklists as well.

If there is nothing that you can fill in on a form, then it isn't applicable. No dependents, IMM0008DEP isn't needed. No representative, IMM5476 isn't needed. IMM5406, right away it asks for spouse and parents, which obviously can be filled in, so that form must be included.

It is a lot of paperwork and easy to get mixed up. Even with the checklist, lots of people end up missing forms or documents. Go through everything slowly and methodically. When doing our app, I borrowed a little whiteboard from my office, around 3x2 feet. I listed everything out on the board, crossing it out as it was completed.

Thank you Canuck! I will take it slow and make a check board too to tick everything off that has been done..

For question #4 on IMM10008 I put "CPC-O" as the immigration office requested for processing this application. She lives in Chicago and we are doing "Outbound" and will choose NYNY for the interview if needed as it's closest to me here in NB Canada.. If she is back in Canada when we send in the forms is it okay for us to have put CPC-O ?

Yes, CPC-O is the correct choice regardless of where she is.

There is pretty much no chance that she will be called for an interview, so don't worry about that.

We have an age difference though of 18.5 years so we are hoping they will understand.. We also had a very informal wedding with just us, the officiator, and two witnesses.. We have a few pics of the ceremony and plan to celebrate in a humble way with her parents when I can get to Chicago. Also we both have an anxiety disorder which she will need to claim and explain on one of her forms it looks like.. We are both very much in love, humble and good people, and just want to live our lives together.. Her parents were all for our marriage and I have no family other than a daughter who's on her own and 21. My wife is 30 and I am 49.

Between a Canadian and American, an age difference like that isn't really seen as a red flag, especially when you have lived together for over a year and have the support of the families. Many others have been approved with such an age difference without an interview. I know that another user, scylla, sponsored her American husband 16 years older quite quickly and without an interview.

Basically, you want to address any potential red flags upfront with CIC.

For the age difference, you can explain how you have the same culture, interests, lifestyle, religion, life expectations etc., that age isn't important, that your families are 100% accepting.

Explain why you chose a small ceremony with only a few witnesses. If it was due to your anxiety disorders, that is a perfectly acceptable reason. It is a stressful thing to be stood up in front of people during your vows and to be the centre of attention throughout the ceremony and reception.

Definitely make sure that you include letters from your families expressing their support, especially from her parents and your daughter. Her parents should explain why they didn't or were unable to attend the wedding and that they plan on having a reception for you guys when you go to Chicago.
