Do you guys know if the moscow office sends out a notice to the applicant when the file has been open/begun? I know some places do, not sure about moscow.

In my case they didnt.

They did not notify me either until I e mail them myself asking about my application status.
they were taking strike action by that time when our appication was transfered from Missasagua to Moscow so they were probably busy , they didn't even update the ECAS on the CIC web site.

:D

Hello everyone. My wife landed last week. Everything went well.
It already feels like we've been living together for months.

Congratulations! :) And thank you very much everyone for sharing how it goes for you after you get your visa, it is a very reassuring thing to read when we get overwhelmed with the long wait that is still ahead of us

Thanks.

The landing details were pretty straight forward. Aside from having all the proper documentation + visa ... it was like travelling to any other country for her. She arrived at the airport, took about 45mins - 1hr for her to pass through customs and collect her baggage. We were home in 20 minutes , no traffic :)

I landed 11 days ago. My first impression about Canada '' it's so damn cold here''. It was not so hard to go through customs though but it took so long time my husband had been waiting for me outside of the airport he was nervous and anxious when I met him
so what I have already done in Canada
I have already received my social insurance number .
I have already received my saving account to apply for medical insurance( it was one of the many other proofs of residency I would have to provide) so next Monday I will go the Service Ontario it was good to know that you have to wait up to 3 months to get your health insurance from the day when you landed not from the day when you applied .I'm already 22 weeks pregnant so I hope I will get my insurance in time it should be.
I have met all my husband's family and his friends I think he never get tired to show off my pregnant belly to everyone it looks like '' Look everybody my wife is pregnant'' ;D

ekaterina1984,

Welcome to Canada. I grew up in Toronto and yes it's COLD ! But soon you'll be complaining it is too damn HOT when summer begins ;)
Also for medical insurance, you could have bought blue cross insurance before landing by your own Visa card or your husbands. We got it for 91 days.

Thank you,
I should have known better before so it's too late anyway we are trying to get the medical card so I hope it will work out we are also looking for a private doctor to get my medical check ups during these 3 months of waiting . :(

by the Blue cross insurance doesn't cover pregnancy related costs.

I think you are in ontario, if you are here is a website you can look at, it is for midwives. They do prenatal appointments and you do not need health coverage at all. They are busy though so sometimes you cannot get into the clinic you want. Best to call them and see if they can see you. Being 22 weeks you still need medical care. :) Congratulations by the way! http://www.ontariomidwives.ca/
