Minimum Annual Income to Sponsor

I have a friend who would like to sponsor her husband while she is abroad? What is the minimum annual income so that she can sponsor her husband?

There isn't a financial requirement for sponsoring one's spouse. But it wouldn't hurt to provide some detail on how she plans to re-establish herself in Canada.

Unemployed can sponsor without any income.

Only the people collecting Welfare can not sponsor spouse.

People with disability collecting welfare can also sponsor spouse.

But is there a possibility to show me the link on cic where it shows that there is no minimum income required? Because on the document checklist E5491 of spouse sponsorship it shows that a proof of employment is required.

No, it says, "IF you are employed, please provide proof". But having no income doesn't mean the PR application will be approved, because they have to show how they will suppor themselves without collecting welfare

No problem, just remember, even she has no income, and can still sponsor, the VO can still refuse the application if they don't think her or her husband have a plan to support themselves and not go on welfare. Even if their relationship proofs are strong, their application can still be refused because of that.

Spoysual applications are income tax exempt. But u need to mention how r u going to support urselves.even though u r approved in sponsor ship stage during 2nd stage tgey may ask u all these details like employment, noa etc

I think you meant to say there is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorships? Because everyone who earns an income has to pay income tax.

@Sino... does your friend or her husband have dependents(children) who have dependents of their own? If yes, then she has to meet LICO(minimum income) and fill out a financial evaluation form instead.

To do this, you must provide documents showing your financial resources for the past 12 months. This requirement applies only when dependent children who have dependent children of their own are included on the application.

Above statement is from cic website. I applied for my child approved as sponsr but after 5 months process they asked me proof of funds.so although they may accept as sponsor in future thy may ask for proof.
