A carta poder is a letter giving someone else the right to have access to certain type of information only available to the applicant. If he goes to a papeleria he can buy it there and he´ll just have to fill in the blanks.

The military documents is the cartilla liberada

exactly, or in some cases, the precartilla can be presented as well.

From what I´ve read the ones you get in Guadalajara or anywhere else than DF are given by the State Police, whereas the SSP in Mex City is a federal background check.

If someone else has some more info on this please share.

thats what I heard too

BCmom72: Was your son in law asked for an interview before he was asked to submit the police checks?

They came at the same time....so he took them with him to the interview, than two months later they told him they didn't have them on file. Than in August they asked him for his 'original' birth certificate. I guess the translated one that was submitted was not sufficient. I really don't know what else they could ask for other than their first born now! She has been down in cancun living with him for almost a year now, waiting for this all to be completed.

FYI, if anyone on here lives in the Vancouver area, this Saturday is the annual Mexico Fest! Here is the link

I wish CIC would give out updated information in the letters they send, the number they provide for the SSP in Mexico City does not work. Here's the link from the CIC letter we got about the SSP Certificate: It refers to the Certificate as "constancia de antecedentes no penales"

http://www.pgjdf.gob.mx/temas/1-4-1/index.php?tema=Antecedentes+Penales&idw3_contenidos=9

Here's the link to the one you can get in GDL

http://tramites.jalisco.gob.mx/infoTramite_hac.php?id2=972

If anyone knows if there's a difference between the two please post, I found pictures of the DF one and it looks exactly like the one my wife got in GDL, we can't get anyone on the phone except a pre-recorded message.

EDIT: Full link to the process in GDL the first one doesn't have the full details

My wife got the one from that place in GDL and the embassy didn't accept it. I think that one used to be ok, but (from what i understand) in may they changed things and now it has to be the ssp in Mexico city. Even though our application was sent to the embassy at the end of march, we were asked for certificates in may, so I guess that meant we had to follow the new protocol.
It's funny that they started empowering states offices to issue the PGR so that it would be easier for people to get. But then at the same time they start requiring people to get the ssp from Mexico city. But at least the ssp is done same day and so only one trip is necessary instead of 2. But still doesn't make much sense...

Hi
My wife is in Mazatlan and I see that the list for Doctors only mentions Mexico City, Monterrey and Juarez. There is a Consulate in Mazatlan, would they have a specific Dr for the Medical exams. The other cities are too far away for her to go.
I appreciate your answer.

Our PGR arrived at the embassy this morning. woohoo!! That's 3 down.. LeisaP and tsjunx, you're next! :)

It has to be only a DR listed on the list of DMPs. Unfortunately, there aren't many locations.
