SSP: Only avaliable in Mexico City, unfortunatly. If he cant get it, only a direct family member (mother, father, spouse, brother, sister, kids) can get it on his behalf.

PGR: He can get that one in his state, but only once you have the letter from the embassy. Make sure he has his carta poder, and a current birth certificate (these are the two major problems when trying to get the PGR) Also be sure to ask what photos they want. In Cancun it was Mexican passport size, in the DF it was the oval shaped, so be sure to call and ask!

:)
Thank you MC, I thought that was the case, I guess we may as well wait for the PRG letter and he can just go to DF and get the SSP and PRG then submit it to the embassy directly. His Carta poder is the military certificate that he needed for the state police check as well, I am I correct ?

If he has to fly to Mex city I would reccomend volaris.. they have pretty cheap flights (compared to the others)
I think he will most likely be taking the bus but i will certianly keep that in mind :) He has a ton of family in DF, so its an excuse for a visit, at least he wont have to worry about a hotel and food lol !

I am sure this has already been discussed a 100 times but I am going to ask one more hee hee.... For the SSP, can you only obtain this in DF ? or would it be possible to get it in GDL ? I understand you can now get the PRG in GDL now so I am hoping he can do both there without having to travel to DF .... Figure we may as well get whatever we can ready now so we can jump once our files in Mexico. So if I have it correct, we need an updated birth certificate.. SSP certificate and then the PRG once it is requested. Is there anything else we should be getting together ?
My wife got it in Gdl... we sent it in with the application the first time and it expired. I'm not sure why I'm reading that you can only get it in Mexico City...

Hmmm, interesting, if you could ask her where she got the SSP in GDL that would be great :) how long does it last before it expires ?

My wife is on the phone with the SSP in Mexico City making sure that the doc they give out in GDL is the same one, don't wanna be giving wrong information out so once we've confirmed it I'll come back and post the details :D

I wish CIC would give out updated information in the letters they send, the number they provide for the SSP in Mexico City does not work. Here's the link from the CIC letter we got about the SSP Certificate: It refers to the Certificate as "constancia de antecedentes no penales"

http://www.pgjdf.gob.mx/temas/1-4-1/index.php?tema=Antecedentes+Penales&idw3_contenidos=9

Here's the link to the one you can get in GDL

http://tramites.jalisco.gob.mx/infoTramite_hac.php?id2=972

If anyone knows if there's a difference between the two please post, I found pictures of the DF one and it looks exactly like the one my wife got in GDL, we can't get anyone on the phone except a pre-recorded message.

EDIT: Full link to the process in GDL the first one doesn't have the full details

The SSP you can get right away, but the PGR you have to go back and pick it up. So if he gets the PGR in DF instead of GDL, he'd have to make a 2nd trip to DF to pick it up. Whereas he only needs one trip to get the SSP. Just thought I'd mention that. But if he goes to DF.. he can drop off the docs in person.. so that's a pro.

A carta poder is a letter giving someone else the right to have access to certain type of information only available to the applicant. If he goes to a papeleria he can buy it there and he´ll just have to fill in the blanks.

The military documents is the cartilla liberada

From what I´ve read the ones you get in Guadalajara or anywhere else than DF are given by the State Police, whereas the SSP in Mex City is a federal background check.

If someone else has some more info on this please share.

Yes I believe this is what happened to us. We thought it was ssp. But it was only for the state no ssp federal.
I think your right

I think you're right too, a trip to Mex city it is. My wife spoke to the guy at the GDL office and he said he's frequently issuing them for people using them for CIC he never hears back so obviously we don't know if they get rejected and I don't want to find out lol...

On another note, my wife just got the PGR request letter through the waybill we sent, it took 15 calendar days from when the embassy received our waybill and this one does say it's for permanent residence
