Hi everyone,

How long are Police certs valid for until they have to be redone ?

Hi Huron, Police certs are valid for 1 year, I was told that by the IO last august when I went to my interview and even if you are reaplying (like myself) they will be valid 1 year.

Great news Islenio, keep us posted with your updates i'm a little behind you, I just got sponsor approval on Nov. 2, Now I'll wait one month for the AOR.

This thread used to be at top of the other ones and now is very quite...

We went to the Mexican Embassy here in Ottawa and got the paperwork done to request the "Carta de Antecedentes Registrales"

We will send that to someone in Mexico to get the "carta" for us, I will let you know how it goes.

yes it is very quiet. I do not know if there is no new news or no one is sharing or maybe everyone landed and forgot to tell us :o

I have no update on my case....

On a different note thou there is a new MAYA exhibit open at the ROM in Toronto is anyone there is interested.....

Trust me, the day my husband lands everyone and their dogs will hear about it. Likely twice! :)

we are just about to send everything hopefully by the end of this week! Just waiting for the police certificate translation.

How many photos seems acceptable to send in? I have tons of pictures but I don´t want to exagerate!

Nessa, We sent in 200 pictures for our application. 200 is a lot (some people said they sent in 100 photos or 150). We had a lot of pictures and picking only 100 was difficult for us. We even wrote a quick little one line discription on the back of each picture with a "date taken" on it too. How many pics did others send in?

Thanks Huron, We've gone to Mexico City and are now waiting for the Federal Police certificate to be processed and ready for us to take it to the Canadian Embassy. That means another flight there and back (too many flights). It should be ready in the next 2 days (i hope). Is it possible to get a family member to pick it up for us and take it to the Embassy?

We sent 45 colour pictures on regular paper, three pics per sheet and wrote all the info besides each pic.

As per the PGR website :

Someone else can request and/or pickup the "carta" with a carta poder. The mexican consulate can help you with that.

We just sent the paperwork to get someone in Mexico City to request, pickup the carta on our behalf.

Photos: I don't recall how many photos we submitted with our application but it was a random sampling of various life events - early relationship, the wedding, honeymoon, visits, other travels, family stuff, facebook screen shots etc. Everyone's case and relationship is unique, so submit whatever feels like a good representation of your entire relationship (i.e. not just the wedding) and don't worry too much about "how many".
