That's good to know that extension is a possibility. Will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Hello,

My husband and I got married in Mexico on Wednesday...I´m canadian and he is Mexican. We are just getting all the paper work together and plan on applying as soon as possible.

Just a quick question to make sure I have got this clear:

So you send almost all of the documents to the Mississauga office for the first step. Does this include the medical exams or does that come afterwards? And does it include the state and federal police reports? or are those later whenever they ask you for it?

We plan on going for the medical exam in Mexico City, can anyone tell me about how much they charge and how long it takes to get an appointment and how long it takes them to give you the result?

Thank you in advance! :D

Hi Nessa. The first step is to send your application to Missisauga. You will need to include your proof of medical in that application. Print out the instructions regarding photo specifications from the country specific forms on the CIC website. You will have to choose a DMP (designated medical practitioner) for Mexico City and schedule an appointment. Take your photos and the medical form with you to the doctor's appointment. Instructions for locating a DMP are located in the Immigrant's Guide (Part 2). Exams vary in price. The doctor's office will give you a signed form/receipt and it is that form that you must include with your application package. The actual medical results are forwarded directly to CIC by the doctor's office.

Once the Mexico office begins processing your application, you will be contacted with instructions for obtaining the Federal police certificate. It is up to you to obtain state and other country clearances and submit with the application (others on the forum may have advice regarding state certificates as we did not have to provide any).

Thank you very much for the helpful reply!

So do I have to include the state police certificate in the first application I send to Mississauga, or do I wait for them to ask for it?

My understanding is that you are supposed to include them in the package going to Mississauga. (someone else jump in if I have that wrong please)

Really the best thing to do is to read and then reread the part 3 regional guide for latin American. Everything is pretty well outlined in the guide. (Everyone has such different cases and back grounds it is hard to give an overall answer)

There is a check list and links for DMP and how to get the different police reports form the different Mexican states if they you need them. (Items 13 and 14 from the check list)

For example: One does not need to include any police reports with the initial application if one only lived in Mexico City your whole life.

But if one lived in different countries and or Mexican states the many of those should be included. (Some cannot (like the Mexican federal report from the PGR as you will require a special letter from the embassy and you will only get that with your AOR)

Spent a lot of time (documented or not) in the USA? You will probably need an FBI report as well.

For Family class applications you can find the Part 3 Regional information guide for Latin America at the link below

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp#region

Info on DMP can be found here

Hello everyone,

Sorry I know it's probably been said already but I was wondering if someone could confirm two questions for me. My SO is currently in Canada with me on a Multiple Entry Visa, we will be applying for his PR in a few months but before then we will be returning to Mexico to get some final documents. I was reading the guide and I saw that he has to submit his police record as well as his medical when we send in the application. While looking online we noticed that the closest office he can get his medical done is Mérida which is far from where we will be (Cancun) is it possible for him to get his medical done here even though we are applying for out land sponsorship? If so, what is the price difference? Also, I noticed he needs two different police record checks and I read on another thread that one is only available to get in Mexico City, is this true?? We don't want to go on a wild goose chase and appreciate the answers of people on here who have already been through the process. :D

Thank You Kindly!

Yes you can use ANY DMP in the world. (I have read that when done in Canada the Meds can sometimes be extended, when done outside of Canada they are usually not.) Prices vary you will have to check with each doctor’s office.

Info on DMP can be found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medical.aspx

Everything you want to know about police reports for Mexico can be found here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp

You must submit original police certificates of good conduct or clearances from each country and Mexican state in which you and each of your family members aged 18 years or over have resided six continuous months or more since reaching 18 years of age.

The Mexican Federal Police report is done after you receive your AOR. You will receive instructions from the Embassy with your AOR so there is no need to worry about that now. (Police reports from other countries and Mexican states should be submitted with the original application)

Thanks Huron you gave me some really good insight! Being able to extend the medical would be awesome. I am going to look into that, thank you!

Just to confirm, when you said the quote above, you are referring to my SO (since I am the sponsor) correct?

The applicant(s) has to supply the police reports not the Canadian Citz. Also just want to restate that the extension of the meds is what I have read some of the postings I do not have any first had experience.

you can also see my post from nov1

Hi to all again, hope everyone is making good progress with their applications. we were able to get our extention for the Federal Certificate (after 2 weeks waiting) and we are getting ready to go to Mexico City to get the Federal police certificate, but in the list of things needed it mentions having the SAT-5 form filled out. We went to the website and it says we need to pay for it. and it says that we can't pay the fee unless this is filled out. Where do we pay for it. we are kinda confused about this part. can anyone show us some wisdom?

The SAT 5 forms are sold in papelerias all over Mexico. You then pay someone with a typewriter to fill it out (in triplicate) and then take them to any bank in Mexico to pay.
