Yeah. In our case my significant other is already with me here in Canada on a visitor visa. So we can go to the Mexican Embassy in Canada (Toronto for us) to request a PGR letter.

Ah. okay i think thats where it becomes more difficult for your case.
your parents filed refugee? when you were young correct?

Ive heard over other cases with parents going to usa or canada and filing refugee with their children and later causing problems in the future.
i may be wrong but i have heard this happen to a couple people.
and did they deny after your interview? do you mind if i ask why.
it seems like they didnt care much about the genuniness of your relationship, more of your parents refugee. which i think is so wrong. you are applying independently and you shouldnt have to go through all this trouble because of a choice your parents made.
he interview should have been more about YOU and your relationship. not your parents case!! :(

Anyways okay! we will take it right to the embassy.
umm
whats the address for the embassy?? :D i have never been there.
thankss!! :)
The embassy´s address is:

Immigration Section – Section de l’immigration
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 193, Colonia Granada, Del. Miguel Hidalgo, 11520, Mexico D.F. Mexico

It´s near metro San Joaquin on the orange line! About 10 mintutes walking from there.

If you are in Mexico then no. You absolutely need the letter for the PGR. Not sure if they would give you the letter if you go there personally and ask for it...

I had just turned 17 when the whole refugee thing happened, mind you that as a dependent, I have to follow my dad, and I was largely ignorant on the whole thing, a 17 year old worries about friends and school, not immigration stuff lol, but think about this: Who would you be more suspicious about? The teenager who didn't apply for refugee, but his parents did and took him along the ride, or the adult who did apply by himself?

Like I said, things happen and if your relationship is genuine then you have nothing to worry about. My relationship is genuine, and I believe that with over 400 photos, letters, emails, chats, etc. I had enough to prove it, but like Canadiangirl78 said, we're dealing with humans, and this woman felt it "wasn't enough" which was ridiculous.

Just to point out how ridiculous my refusal was, the judge that granted my appeal wrote on the reasons for the decision that I was "pre-approved" just based on the evidence I had provided, my appeal had already been granted before the hearing with the judge. They just wanted to talk to me and hear my side of the story. He even wrote that the decision taken by the VO was "baseless"

The embassy is located in Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 193

It's that building under construction LOL. You have to go in through the side street.

You'll do fine ;) Stop worrying so much, it's not healthy (I should follow my own advice LOL!)

They won't give it to you before preliminary review of the application is complete. The good news is that the PGR gets it done in 10 days :)

For folks in Canada, you can try getting the letter from the Embassy and getting the constancia via family in Mexico. It may work, it may not (given that it's the Mexico VO it's more likely to work ... other VO's have been known to send it back since they want the informe de datos registrales that's been processed by the Mexico VO). Buyer beware ;)

I am so confused now. My SO is technically only visiting in Canada, why would he need a informe de datos registrales instead of a constancia??

The Embassy technically only can request the informe since you are out of the country when you request it. For the constancia you need to go in person to the PGR so they take your prints personally.

Hm, weird. If that is the case, why do the accept the carta poder in the first place? My SO can go to Mexico if necessary so its not that I am worried about that, I am more worried about if the informe will slow down our processing time.. I remember that islenio wife was here and she got the Constancia request. Anyone else go through this with their spouse already in Canada? Does the informe slow things down instead of getting the constancia yourself? I thought the informe was only for inland.. Sigh, who knows, lol.

Ok, so when would I know if we needed the informe or the constancia, in the Mexico AOR? I guess at the end of the day it doesn't change much since we would still need the SSR as well, which is only available in Mexico City.

yess true i agree. with that. but than again the immigration system is all backwards anyways. just look the people who filed for refugee have to leave canada to do PR. but the people who are ILLEGAL and work illegally can stay in canada to do PR. lol to me this just doesnt make any sense.

anyways yes true. it also depends on the case to and why they filed. unfortunatly the threat was very real and very scary and alot of bad things happened to friends during the time. and its very sad that people claim refugee just to stay with no real threat! thats what i dont like, because than the rest of us get screwed because of it!! not fair!

yes true its all humans and some are more hard ass than others. but anyways the matter is we will all get through this eventually anyways! because we have genuine relationships. haha 400! and i thought we were crazy! we sent about 400 pictures aswell!. :D

awe really. thats so unfortunate that they were approving it anyways and you had to waste so much time on ridiculous stuff, when your case was real and going to be approved anyways!! that really sucks to say the least!

oh okay! i think i know where that is. we should be able to find it!!. thanks alot!!
im going to send another 300 pictures, plane tickets, event tickets, hotel room confirmation and more letters from his parents saying we are staying with them. should be sufficient! ;D

haha yeah i have a big problem with worrying, been like it my whole life lol. and i dunno where i got it from, both my parents are very relaxed people!

It's pretty easy. You can take a bus in Periferico that will take you directly to Chapultepec. This is the fastest way and the one I would take. There are tons of those buses driving by every 10 seconds literally, it's impossible to miss.
If you want to take the metro then you would have to go from Cuatro Caminos to Tacuba, then switch lines and go to Tacubaya, then switch lines AGAIN and go to Chapultepec. Or you can go from Cuatro Caminos to Pino Suarez, then switch lines and go to Chapultepec.

Just take the bus lol, it's super easy.
