Gracias. Just one more for now How long are they valid for? The PGR and SSR? I am sure when the time comes I will have about a million more, but right now I am going to focus on getting our approval!OhCanadiana said:Glad it makes sense now
If you have any questions/doubts left, don't be shy about asking.
SSP means Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (ssp.gob.mx) but what does a "SSP certificate" means?OhCanadiana said:CIC added the SSP requirement recently! The SSP requirement is it's own can of worms ... for people in Mexico, it can only be done in Mexico City, and even there they up and moved offices across the city with no real notice ... for people outside Mexico, there's still the question of how to do it if you aren't in Mexico and don't have family in Mexico City (CIC thinks Mexican Embassies will do it, but they aren't playing ball - yet?) Alas, we'll sort it out and get to the finish line

Does anyone have the link from the Secretaría de Seguridad Publica website or the actual name for this certificate?
People should understand is not that easy for us to go from one dependency to another just asking for "certificates", specially when you know how people are in México and the bureaucracy.
I think it would be more helpful if the information comes from someone who just got this document.
umm im not entirely sure.Nessa said:Did you have to pay anything to get the police check? Because the SSP is free. The PGR costs something like 135 pesos (I can´t remember the exact price).
Technically, one year. However, I've seen them ask for updates ... and have seen them not ask for updates (what's new?!?)mc1234 said:Gracias. Just one more for now How long are they valid for? Do you perchance have a copy of it somewhere? Or, does your suegra remember if she got it same day (maybe even the address?) ... back then the SSP was on Xola near the Torre de Mexicana? If you didn't have an official request letter from a government entity, it's unlikely that it was the PGR...LeisaP said:umm im not entirely sure.
we just sent the finger prints and carta de poder.
i am assuming if we had to pay something my mother in law would have paid it. but i dont know for sure.
but the police check we got was one that stated he had no criminalities in all of mexico. i remeber this because when we had it translated i read through it.
:-\
haha yeah no kidding!OhCanadiana said:Also, the SSP you get same day; the PGR one you have to go back 10 days later. That may help your detective work, LeisaP
nah we dont have a copy of it.OhCanadiana said:Do you perchance have a copy of it somewhere? Oh really?! I was going to wait until we recieved Mexico City AOR. Do you think thats the ideal time for us?? how long does it take the file to transfer from cic-m to mexico city??OhCanadiana said:Technically, one year. You may want to start to start the process to explore getting the letter from the Embassy, etc. You should get your approval soon (*goose bumps*) and I don't know what the lead-time is for appointments at the Embassy now. To capture the time savings, you want the certificate in your file when Mexico looks at it when they get it from CPC-M
I would actually do it when you get your sponsorship approval from CPC-M (or CPP-O). That way you'll have a file number you can attach to the document when your MiL drops it off. That way it will be in your file when an officer takes a look at it (and maybe even before your AOR, which is generated by locally-engaged-staff reviewing your application for completeness and making a summary for the officer).mc1234 said:Oh really?!
