just checking documents - very quick, easy and the officer was really nice to talk to. She asked just 2 questions that were very pertinent and I would probably have asked them myself I was in her position.

you need to have a lawyer to file it for you. We initiated the Mandamus at the 26 months mark.

I feel like they're penalizing me for being outside so maybe I should go back. My PR card expires on Oct 2nd so maybe I will go back on Oct 1st. So the card expires at midnight of Oct 2nd?

It does seem that IRCC likes to put on hold the applications of people who have been outside for some time. I'd recommend coming back sooner if you can, both for ease of getting past immigration with more time before PR card expiry and before newer and more contagious COVID variants arise with colder weather and cause travel disruptions.

It never disappeared. It only did in the minds of most people because the governments caved to convoy pressure and people are sick of this pandemic in general. And the virus has always been less active in warm weather. But the complacency and lack of restrictions and extended time the virus has had to mutate more will only produce more trouble once it gets colder again.
