She is an Immigration Officer, She has worked on Spousal Applications in Mississauga for over two years, which is what I am doing. Now she works and lives in Ottawa and is processing Syrian Refugee PR applications, so, I believe what she is telling me. She has no idea that I am explaining this on a forum and I will stop here.
Well, I suggest you send that answer from IRCC´s Twitter to clarify, then. That´s a verified account (which means the Government of Canada validated its identity as official), and giving mistaken answers certainly doesn´t help an office´s credibility.

Someone is mistaken here, and having opposite feedbacks from official sources may jeopardize IRCC´s reliability as a whole.

She has no reason to lie to you. I get that. But I don't see any reason why government needs to lie on this. You can believe even flying unicorns exist if you want to. Im sorry but I will take the official version over an unnamed agent which may or may not exit. May or may not know a thing about what they are talking about. We go by the official process and have to trust the official word.
From a security perspective if someone is requesting a government document then logic tells me they are going to stop and ask "why" is this person asking for this information. The 5 w's, who, what, why, where and when. It's logical that all those question's will have to be answered, before this report is sent out. My brain works with facts and logic. GCMS notes have personal information in it and it does make sense that our government would put some safety measures in place before just sending them out without assuring the 5 w's have been checked. This is not a report that is shared without thought and reason, I HOPE!

It just makes sense to me that if someone were asking for such sensitive information, my government would not just send out information like this without taking a step back and assuring our security. Also, if there are some sinister individuals that are trying to get into our country I would want our government to stop and take their time to know who this person is asking for this information and what are the repercussions for sending out this information to this person.

I love my country and it's protection is important to me, so IF the government does not divulge "everything" that it does behind the scenes, to protect us, then I am fine with that. They can take all the time they need to assume themselves that giving out the GCMS notes is safe and I would think that a slight hold back on the file would probably take place to make that happen. This makes sense to me. I said I was gong to stop but my blood started to boil because I started looking at this from a security perspective, not just selfish reasons of wanting my husband here.

I really am going to stop after this message because I simply started this conversation with saying we should be a little more aware of processing times when asking for GCMS notes and to be aware of possible delays in processing, for security purposes. It was simply a heads up and to be vigilant and aware of the potential delay.

Officers credibility.......... what about the officers that are answering those phones on CIC's end? Are you telling me they are credible? They work for the government as well, yet we question a lot of what they say, we question a LOT of what they say rather!!!! For this reason, I had question's about what that agent told me and then I searched for other comments on application delays when asking for GCMS notes and saw a few in this particular forum. You can search for yourself. Others have the same opinion that there is a delay when requesting GCMS notes and reasons being, for security purposes. Which makes perfect sense.

Nice write up but really not on the original point. When you order gcms notes you're ordering your own personal information not someone else. In previous post you were arguing government lies all the time and now you are arguing government is doing to protect information. And now you're giving an angle which is totally irrelevant to the original discussion. May be you're from legal background but sadly your arguments are frivolous and without substance. It doesn't matter what you, I and what some person thinks. Government has made their position clear from their official channel. And I believe that position.

The only thing I'm telling is that there's a conflict between an official statement (through social media, but still, official) and from someone who works at the government, but has to remain in anonymity. Until a written feedback from an official source tells that having any kind of request under ATIP influences processing, it's kind of hard relying on anonymous third parties. This only leads to pointless discussions, like this one.

Similar situation for me.

Background check started on July 5th, no updates since that. AOR May 30th.

Do not know the reason, but no matter when I call IRCC, they keep saying high volume of calls. I ordered notes 4 weeks ago. I think I should have it by next Monday, or I will follow up.
I ordered three weeks ago, hope everything is good

I would like to agree with you somehow. I work in Due Diligence Compliance and from experience each file that i touch that gets escalated for it's notes, has to go through security checks. So i do agree with what your friend is saying, but question is how much delay? Ask her this question.

Sharing experience is one thing but forcing everyone to believe what you and your friend think about the process based on no factual evidence is delusional.
I will advise everyone to get their process so called delayed as per Penny instead of getting refused without ordering GCMS & not knowing that you could have fixed something proactively.
