Who is this officer? You mean the call center agent or IRCC officer working on files? Whoever she is .. she is not doing any favor to you... Its like 1000 times opposite of it by giving misinformation. Yes calls to agents get logged but that's an automated system. They enter in the system against your file number and they appear. No one is stopping any process to do so.

And by your post the file is being touched by multiple people then who is this officer who is stopping work. The amount of BS that she has doled out is unbelievable. The GCMS note generation is nothing more than a click of a button. Talk to anyone who understands IT systems and he will tell you the same thing.
Further, on a personal note, I work in Litigation/administration and if a case is being questioned and I have to backtrack and ensure that what ever information I am presenting is going to be used in a possible negative way, then yes, everything halts until what ever current step is being worked on is completely accurate, current and legal, so what this woman explained to me, made perfect sense. Considering I was asking for the GCMS notes, it made sense to me that the person generating this report would be fact checking everything, before sending it out to me and I pray that it's more then just a click of a switch to send me information about my past, present and future, which is what the GCMS notes are.

And what if IRCC itself stated that it doesn't any halt any process, would you listen that or still keep justifying what that agent said ? :)

She explained that when we request GCMS notes it holds up the process and then went into further detail, which I have already explained. If it's simply a click of a button, then why on earth does it take them a month to send it via email?

I called the 1-800 number for Canadians and explained to the agent, who was French, that I had ordered my GCMS notes, but also wanted a verbal update on my file and that was why I was calling. She gave me the verbal information/status of our application, which was vague and not anything that I didn't already know. I pray that "you" are right and the fact that I requested these notes does NOT cause a delay in our application and I hope that she is 100% "incorrect", if your right, that is fantastic, because the waiting is horribly emotional. All I can say is this, what was explained to me, if she had sinister intentions, by telling me this, then that is sad and I hope the call was recorder.
Official statement from IRCC:

https://twitter.com/CitImmCanada/status/1039207796208803841?s=19

TL;DR: ATIP requests (which include GCMS notes) have no impact whatsoever on your processing.

That's not the first time I hear about a call center agent spreading such baloney. What for and why, I have no idea. If anyone could record a call of any of them telling such a thing and reporting a complaint, that'd be very welcome.

A good handful of agents have no idea what's going on & they pretty much can see as much in your application as you yourself.
Its time people should stop quoting what an agent said.

All I care about is I do NOT want to slow down the application process. That is all I care about. I just want my husband here with me, so if asking for my GCMS notes has ANY negative effect on our application, then I will think twice about the information request.

Plus, why would would the CIC agent tell me this anyways? Why would she be saying this to be mean if it's not true? What did she have to gain or lose by sharing this?

I have a friend who works for Immigration Canada and I try to not bother her with too many questions. She used to work in Mississauga with Spousal Applications, but has moved to back to Ottawa and is working on the Syrian refugee applications, but I am going to text her and ask her. Because of the sensitivity of her work and because she knows I am sponsoring my husband, she has politely requested for me to not ask her too many questions, it seems they sign a code when joining the department of Immigration and Refugee, but I will ask her and see if she will answer me and then I will post her response. If what this clerk/officer at CIC told me was true or not it's important for sponsors and applicants to know whether or not GCMS note requests hold up the application process in any way.

I do not want to spread false information and stress out anyone reading my posts. :(:(:(

May Allah keep us all calm and patient, while we wait for our loved ones to join us.

Why they take 30 days I don't know. May be there is a process of reviewing some key information. The reason I know why its incorrect is that if you search the forums you will find hundreds of cases where a person ordered the notes and they got PPR in few hours to few days after that. If GCMS halted the process would they have received the PPR. I won't give too much importnace to what call agents say. I don't trust them. If you want to spend time you can find 100s of cases where the information they provided on call was incorrect. And this information for sure is factually incorrect. So you don't have to worry that your file is being delayed because you ordered gcms notes.

Also, if you search the forum you will find many people saying that they were waiting for a long time and when they ordered gcms notes they got PPR. They think may be ordering gcms notes triggered someone to look into their file.

Point is there is argument on both sides and both sides are incorrect as gcms process is independent of it. So ordering notes neither impacts your application negatively nor positively

Thanks for sharing this. I had read this and I was trying to find this particular tweet yesterday when this discussion started but couldn't. I think this is the official version and I will believe it over the version of an agent. Good that the person also mentioned that IRCC call agents are giving misinformation. They should be reprimanded for propagating such lies and increasing tension of already tensed candidates.

Hey I get you! But please don't listen these agents, just think logically for instance if you call to an institute and you get to speak with a customer representative, would you expect that customer representative to tell you something technical about your case ? They have no technical authority and neither are in the position to guide anyone about the core issue.

Hello,

My friend that works for Immigration Canada just texted me and explained the GCMS notes. She does not know that I am on this forum and there is no way for anyone to know her or me, but I think it is VERY important for people to understand the negative effect and process that CIC goes through to generate these notes and I want to share.

Me:

Sound good. previous chat..... I have one question about my husband and our GCMS notes. Sorrry, just one. By asking for this was this bad?

Her:

"Why did you ask for that"?

Me:

I wanted to know the government status of my application and see there notes.

Her:

"Don't ask for that"

Me:

I am a fact checker. smiley face

Her:

It's a big privacy process.
That's how we work.
We leave notes there every time we touch your file.

Me:

I wanted to see in document form what you guys are doing.

Her:

"And when a client requests, yes, it will delay."

Me:

Oh, :(
I will never do that again.

Her:

It has to go through ATIP security until it gets to you.

Me:

I should have asked you first.

Her:

You don't need all of that, relaxxxxxxxx
lol

Me:

lol
:) :) :) :)

Her:

I hate when clients ask for that like chill there, hahahaha

Me:

Why does it delay it?
Is it negative for me to ask for it? It annoys you, so it must annoy others. I just thought it was a click and send via email.

Her:

Oh no it's not just a click.
When clients ask for notes its a lot of work.
Security department has to go through all notes first.
But don't worry your file has not been in process long.
Give it time.
Until they don't ask you for anything you don't need to send or give anything else. Your good.

Me:

Thank you
I just miss him.

Her:

I know.

She is an Immigration Officer, She has worked on Spousal Applications in Mississauga for over two years, which is what I am doing. Now she works and lives in Ottawa and is processing Syrian Refugee PR applications, so, I believe what she is telling me. She has no idea that I am explaining this on a forum and I will stop here.

Unless she heads CIC and is ready to make this statement in public I really don't care who she is. Or you can send the screenshot of the tweet from the link above and ask her .. does she mean to say an official handle of Government Department lied on record in public. If the answer is yes, I will trust her. Then may be its in her best interest to tell the respective department that they are lying on a public platform and unlike her they are not doing that anonymously.
And since she works in that department she should know that. With that I will also stop

Hold on there.............. yes........... the Government does not always tell the whole truth!!! She has NOOOOOOOOOOOOO reason to lie to me and wants to see me happy living with my husband, sharing our lives together. For all those requesting their GCMS notes carry on, if it works in your best interest great and who on earth takes a TWEET as a fact checker? Goodness. I would rather ask my friend, who is an Immigration Officer and I was simply sharing our text messages. Whom ever chooses to believe or not believe, that is their prerogative. Also, those GCMS are probably also filtered to serve their best interest and that is why it goes through a security department, before we receive them and that it why it does take a month to receive them. Logic dictates that!!!!

She has no reason to lie to you. I get that. But I don't see any reason why government needs to lie on this. You can believe even flying unicorns exist if you want to. Im sorry but I will take the official version over an unnamed agent which may or may not exit. May or may not know a thing about what they are talking about. We go by the official process and have to trust the official word.
