Question: When the application is returned because of lack of documents... is it returned before or after the AOR?

Hey guys, now that it has been announced that the new rules come into effect June 11, this makes me want my AOR really badly. It would be terrible if your application gets returned for incomplete after the rules come into effect. :o

if application returned just give them whatever they ask for and resend the application. Original date of application received will still hold good and application will be processed under old rule 3 out of 5 years.

Now the pressure of entire forum had turned onto applicants (24 apr to jun10) who r waiting for AOR.

Sorry, hard luck for those becoming eligible on jun 11. So many of them were on hopes.

Not true always, unfortunately

well, that's what I understood. The CIC officer stamps the original receipt date on all the pages and binds the application papers together before resending and asks for specifically what is missing etc.

On what criteria it's not always true, can you elaborate?

I sent my application on May 27 and I will be anxiously waiting to receive my AOR I just hope that they won't return the file for a stupid mistake or because they didn't spend the time to see that I have a complete file.

Fingers crossed until I get the AOR. :(

Ok; now I understand ur sceanrio. U r talking of date stamped, returned, resent - you are right.

However, remember AOR is the eventual key that confirms you are in for sure.

New rules doesn't talk about applications from April to June 11???

What do they mean about application received before June 11? Does this mean the AOR or the time the application reached CIC and received thru mail? Say i mail my application tomorrow, and it is incomplete since up to now i am still waiting for my CELPIP hardcopy report, but use my college diploma and transcript of record as proof of language proficiency instead, and by God's grace, my application reached CIC before the cut off date, but return it to me, will it be now under the new rule? And if it is, will they refund the $630 fee?

But aren't there cases of people having their application returned and having to apply as a new applicant?

Hi, here is my personal experience, hope it helps.
My application was returned on March. But CIC had attached 2 papers, one was telling me what documents they wanted from me,
and the second one was giving me 2 options. the first options is attached the documents they required and then send everything back to continue processing. The other option is withdraw the application (you still need to send this paper back to get refund). So basically, I don't think it will be a new applicant during this case. But I "guess" if I didn't reply them within certain days, then I might have to send a brand new one.

If you send the missing documents in the timeline, of course it's not a new application.

yes, I know. The funny part is that there is no timeline on that mail. So I called call center because I was waiting for the test, the call center agent told me "hmm, just send it as soon as possible" ::)
