i have no idea how likely it is. my knowledge comes from this forum really. from what i've read, it's most common with visa-exempt applicants, and the officer handling your case (as always), and if your expiration date is close enough to getting approved. CIC will certainly notify the applicant if they need to be redone, so save the money until they tell you for sure! I'm sure if you get pregnant, and they request a new medical, you can ask CIC to consider extending since you will not be able to get an xray.

well hopefully since my meds were done just 2 months before submitting, I might get approved before they expire, and it will be a moot point! or at least, i'll be close enough to the end they'll be likelier to extend them. fx!

jjoon, I did my medicals in May 2013 but did not mail in my application until February 2014. As soon as we got our SA and my file had been transferred to Ottawa, I emailed Ottawa to inquire about the status of my medicals (more out of concern because I found out in the meantime that the medical office where I took the exam had closed). They replied within a week said they have it on file and that they put in a request to extend it. I'm not sure how often they do this but it was worth my 15min to email them to get that update. Bottom line is, I agree with rhcohen to sit back and wait until CIC specifically asks you to redo your meds.

Hello everyone, i really appreciate the quick response of members here as regard any question been asked. i need an answer to this question:
I will be applying soonest but trying to gather information. i can't remember the date of birth of my parents and they are not around now to contact them. what do u guys think i can do. should i leave the space blank or put "*" sign as indicated in the guide? Can this affect my application. Any advise will be highly appreciated

it's at 44 days now first time i ever checked , months ago, it was 28 days ... this sucks.. we also have the quebec step so mooore time to wait... ugh ..

is it just me or we're not so many in may? yumyumhungry add yourself too (lol your username is easy to remember )

and yeah jjoon they do extend medicals sometimes, not sure it will be my case tho (non-visa exempt country). even if i did my medicals just before sending the app (1 week or so), i can't hope to have the visa by april 2015. well that should be the case but i don't wanna get my hopes up as we can all see there's a backlog for the first approval so ...

immigration is definitely the ultimate test of patience. you also get super expert in paperwork 8)

well maybe fewer people in May + backlog from March (per rhcohen) means we'll get back to 28 days again? (where's the "praying" smiley???)

I just added my wife's application into the spreadsheet. Hoping that we all get our AOR, and I just noticed that it's 44 days now ... I think the last time I checked and it was like a month ago or something, it was only for 28 days.. But whatever, goodluck to all!

LOL you're so right, i became a paranoid obsessed freak during that period ??? everything had to be perfect! i don't usually boss people around but when we gathered the paperwork, i was very possessive regarding documents haha. my husband's not loving paperwork too much (neither do i) but i trust myself more as he's a bit with his head in the clouds .. i'm grateful for discovering this forum, that's why i took so much care of our app, i read many "horror" stories here so i wanted to avoid all that!

it's very annoying when friends/random people ask me about it.. they're like "ohhh you married him so when do you leave? like in 1 month, right? " .. and when i show them how much documents we sent, they're all like "woaaaah they're crazy why do you need so much" .. i was assuming the same thing, that i can leave shortly after marriage. bullsh*t.

I am expecting my canadian citizenship Oath ceremony in early June, if my legal status changes from PR to citizen do i have to inform CIC about the change(as i have applied for my wife under spousal class).

it's based on the applicant's home country, not the sponsor.

yes, you want to go by the date the application was DELIVERED, not sent.

haha i was the same with hubbie, simultaneously moaning why didn't he help me more, then not letting him "mess with" anything!! He was very supportive and tells everyone "you have no IDEA what she went through!!" and shows them the picture of our living room floor covered in stacks of paper (when it was all done and sorted). So that helps a bit!

The hard part is being sooo invested and caught up in the process of preparing the app and then having that "abandoned" feeling when it's gone and you can't do anything more that's why we need this forum maybe (one of many reasons!)

but yeah, reading the forum is what opened my eyes to how careful one had to be!
