no, i don't believe so. it is cic acknowledging they received the sponsor's application to sponsor the applicant on a specific date. i don't even think sponsorship approval counts for OHIP eligibility, though i can be wrong. there are threads about that on here, and i'm sure a more senior member can tell you for sure how to try to get coverage. from what i've read it's difficult to get, and requires significant fight. I personally have no idea how to even begin with that.

yes, those threads are what gave me hope! i'm ready to fight lol... it's funny it should even be a fight, bc the official OHIP documents list clearly states you only need to be eligible to APPLY for PR... yet OHIP officers try to say you need to actually be landed.

hmm, so AOR doesn't state you're eligible to apply? i thought i read that somewhere... prolly here haha! then again you've received yours so you would know what it says on there. :)
thanks again for the responses!

this is all that aor says:

thanks a bunch for posting these!

hmm that doesn't exactly say *I* am eligible does it? says my sponsor is, but not me... grrr.

I'll re-peruse those OHIP threads to see what people are using for documentation....

Right, AOR and SA really don't have anything to do with the applicant. It's about the sponsor meeting the eligibility requirements. Then when it gets transferred to the visa office, that's when they start evaluating the applicant. Unfortunately, the applicant will be waiting months and months before they hear a peep. Either the visa office requests more documents, or it's the final passport request. Only a few visa offices send a second AOR to the applicant confirming they received the application. Unfortunately, ottawa doesn't.

Frustrating... i mean, doesn't the fact that they haven't sent the app back mean you're eligible to apply? if you weren't, they'd return the application!

i don't think Mississauga actually goes through the applicant's application. they just verify all the required documents are there. that's what the visa office does... go through the application and decide if the applicant is eligible for PR.

You might try asking one of the spreadsheet editors to allow you to cut and paste that spreadsheet to make it easier!
