This is so confusing. We are so confused. We are face timing right now and these are his questions... He keeps mentioning that apparently he watched a video and it says that I am the "applicant". The principle applicant (him) spouse (me) and than any dependent children (ntt applicable) on his form he's the applicant, and he also has to send one of me and I'm the applicant..

This is confusing... he says he watched this video... should we listen to it? http://immigrationcanada.pro/videos/video-tutorial-additional-family-information-form-imm5406/

May be to end the confusion you both can fill out that form separately (two forms one for you and one for your husband), sign it and send it to CIC.

However only the principal applicant (the person being sponsored) should be filling that form

he is WRONG. The primary applicant is the person BEING SPONSORED. The sponsor is NOT the applicant. Tell him to stop watching the video and taking the word of people on this forum who have been through the same thing as you have. Most likely this video was not created by someone who actually filled out the form and submitted an application.

Technically, yes the sponsor is also an applicant, they are just not the applicant being referred to on this form as it is part of the package for the person wanting to be sponsored AKA the Principle applicant. Have him look at the checkists, does it say the SPONSOR has to submit an IMM 5406? no it does NOT.

Again, The APPLICANT being referred to on this specific form is the person being sponsored, NOT the sponsor. If he won't believe this, send it in. guarantee it's not going to do anything to help your application. It probably won't delay it longer, the form will just be thrown out.

Mrs. Purcy, may be it would be better if you shared the content of the letter with us, so that we can dissect it and resolve the confusion. Of course, don't post any personal info, just the point of contention.

BTW, I got my AOR 8)

Awesome. Finally. Many Congrats !!.

congrats ydj_dil! :)

Just logged in to ecas. It only shows that the application was received on 14th May instead of 13th (13th was the date shown by Canada post tracker, whatever). NOTHING about Medical received or decision made. atleast there is some progress.

Updated the spreadsheet.

Haven't received AOR though

The video is accurate(I watched it), BUT it is confusing. Principal Applicant is the person being sponsored. If they were bringing their spouse or children with them, those family members would be "applicants". The sponsor is already here and is not applying to come to Canada and is therefore in no way an applicant.

I apologize if I made it more confusing. I tried to clear it up!
