MAY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants

So sad to hear that Mrs. Purcy. Thats another one of the May applicants that is seeing a delay now. Its a bit scary.

But, I'm very confused - hope you can clarify: You are in Mississauga, you are the sponsor. Your husband is the applicant, he is in Ireland, right?

They sent a letter to your husband in Ireland about a missing form? And that form is IMM5406 - Additional Family Information, which was missing?

Looking at IMM5491E, which is the document checklist, IMM5406 needs to be filled by the applicant (person being sponsored), not the sponsor. IMM5406 is not in the checklist of documents required from the sponsor. I didn't submit it - I'm the sponsor. My wife submitted this - she is the applicant.

So, then why are they requiring you to submit this info if its not in the checklist? And why did they send a letter to your husband, not you about it? My guess is that your husband needs to fill this out, not you. If he already did in the original application, that just makes this even more confusing.

We applied outland. I was living in ireland with my husband (we were in canada but moved back to ireland for the outland app) and I recently came back (2 weeks ago) for work. Yes I am the sponsor, he is the applicant.

I am a bit confused too. My husband filed out his part but apparently Missisauga needed mine too? Even though I'm sure I filled it out already. I was just as confused as you were because I recall filing something similar but for the sponsorship part. According to the letter they sent, my part was missing and his was included. For clarification, I will speak to my husband to get exact details because it is very confusing for me as well and I hope i don't make anyone else worry too. I will get answers in a few hours (my husband is out with his fan + he is 5 hours ahead in ireland from Toronto)

I was also confused why they sent the letter to my husband instead of me.

ONLY the APPLICANT needs to fill out the additional family form. The SPONSOR does NOT need to fill this out, as per the checklists. Therefore, if it's the additional family information form, only your husband, the APPLICANT needs to fill it out. Reread the email, as it should be pretty clear. You do not have to wait for it if your husband has all ready filled it out. Look at the checklists, it will confirm this fact. If you as the sponsor sends it in, then they will most likely just toss it as it is NOT a required form for the sponsor.

lol. It was not an email for the third time . He got a letter. Through the mail. I will ask him about it more to really clarify because the info I am reading here is confusing me and I don't want him to send incorrect information, yet again.

Also Mrs. Purcy, did the letter have a UCI number for you or for your husband? Perhaps you can call the call center and find out more info with the UCI, if you have doubts.

There was a number and I tried to call but they are closed apparently. Unless I called the wrong # which I doubt. I'll need to call on Monday. I tried calling today in order to change my address and it didn't work :/

weird... the additional family form is only on the applicant's checklist for US applicants. ( i will double check my copies) maybe it's different? Are you sure it was on the sponsor's checklist? Perhaps the mistake is when it mentions the "spouse" needs to also fill it out? The "spouse" in those forms are not the sponsor, it's when there is a husband and wife applying to be sponsored together. i know it confused me at first too. i don't believe my husband (the sponsor) filled out the form.

CIC is a government agency. It is only open Monday - Friday.

the checklists we had were different for the sponsor and principle applicant (Sponsored person). There was a third checklist that combined both lists into one, still each requiring different documentation for each application. i think i also read your previous response wrong. i thought you said you had filled it out, not haven't... which is what you wrote.

you're the sponsor and your spouse is the principal applicant/sponsored person. so obviously you didn't have to complete the additional family form since it's for the sponsored person, not you.

i really don't understand the confusion here. there's only one checklist that comprises documents & forms for both the sponsor and the sponsored person/principal applicant. sure, the country-specific guide has a separate checklist for the sponsored person/principal applicant.

i think the whole confusion was that the PRINCIPAL APPLICANT = SPONSORED PERSON

anyways, Ms.Purcy i'm so sorry you had something missing i hope it won't delay your process for more...

I just tried logging into ecase to see if there where any changes (optimistic I know) and it now says that it cant find my information. Before it always showed application received....any thoughts on where I disappeared to

No, ok, your husband is mistaken. this is the exact form i forgot to submit as well. Only I, the applicant, had to supply it. The sponsor DOES NOT. The "spouse" in this case does NOT refer to the sponsor. That is the confusion i had as well. I did list my sponsor's (husband's) information under section A where it lists spouse.

This is so confusing. We are so confused. We are face timing right now and these are his questions... He keeps mentioning that apparently he watched a video and it says that I am the "applicant". The principle applicant (him) spouse (me) and than any dependent children (ntt applicable) on his form he's the applicant, and he also has to send one of me and I'm the applicant..
