I have debt (loan unpaid) too. It will not affect your process.

They are looking to see if you are on welfare or have bankruptcy, these will disqualify you. As well if you have sponsored anyone previously and they obtained assistance from the government which you have not paid back, this would disqualify you as well. But just having a loan that is not yet paid will not affect this process that I am aware of.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong in this.

I'm particularly hoping for good news for Dair within the next week - she's really suffering the wait, particularly with the issue of the old form that didn't have an email address field.

Thanks Chris....Yes, I understand I am not the only one in this situation but I don't know how others seem to cope so well lol... I spent 16 months apart from my husband because I had to have a melon sized tumor removed in early 2010 with all kinds of complications. They found another tumor inside that one too....was really crazy. (both turned out to be benign) So with all the time off work they would not let me travel sooner than Jan 2011. Now we are facing another year apart and it is really affecting both of us badly.

On the bright side....I called CIC-M and spoke to someone about it. She did not seem to think this would be an issue because if someone did not have an email or did not want to provide one there would be nothing there and they would simply issue a letter. She did confirm that it was new on the forms and changed recently...well recently by government standards anyway...lol

As well she told me to fax my info to them and request that my email be added to my app for correspondance purposes. So of course I did that. But as of yet no news. She did say that once the website shows processing May 19 or later I could call and they would be able to at least see me in the system and if a decision had been made. So not all bad.

But seeing everyone here get approval is encouraging and I am really happy for everyone that has received it and is on to the next stage. Hope is contageous....I am grateful for that.

mate i havent paid it frm last 1 year n bank forwarded it to a collection agency i never paid to them 2 i dont have anything property on my name here.....i m worried it will become problem while background check bcoz i have seen a msg tht london vo asked a person n his wife(she was sponser n was in canada) to give them cr check report.....dont know why there might b some problem.....n if we talk abt pcc i got a clean pcc but tht is diff n security n backgroung checks r diff then tht. now i m worried abt mine....hey guys plz give me ur advice will tht b a problem

My loan is in collections too...but I am now making payments on it. So I honestly don't know if that would make a difference or not. I certainly don't have any property or collateral of that sense. I am like most people in this country...living paycheck to paycheck. I do not think that this should prevent someone from sponsoring a spouse as long as they are not receiving government assistance.

I have never heard of anyone being asked for a credit check but I suppose anything is possible.

I hope someone with more experience is able to help you better.

dont worry about the bad credit. my husband has bad credit (very bad) lol... but he got approved as my sponsor.
