Only thing you can get going against CIC as par of Canada's government is rejection. Canada doesn't have a obligation to take immigrants, be thankful that they do

Hi Guys,

Kindly include us here in May Applicants. My hubby is under NOC 7242, We filed our Application last April 26 in CIO, NS. CIO received it last 3rd of May and our Bank draft was encashed 9th of August... Just like most of all the applicants, we are still waiting for our first AOR.

I love Vancouver and Toronto equally. May be Toronto wins as I have lots of friends, settled there.
It's climate is not bad either.

I've a question. at the time we applied, Academic IELTS was acceptable but now only general. regarding the fact that I have not yet forwarded my documents can I send my academic version or should I take a new general test??
DUH.... I feel dizzy about the canadian attitudes.

Hi Shimax,

It can get confusing! We're using the latest op6 guidance http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf dated 4 August 2010.

As this op6 guidance includes rules for both pre 26 June and post 26 June, we have taken it to allow for all the changes. Particularly relevant sections are:

Section 8: Procedure: Applications received at the CIO on or after February 27, 2008 and before June 26, 2010
Section 9: Visa office procedures - Federal Skilled Worker applications made on or after February 27, 2008, and before June 26, 2010
Section 12: Procedure – Assessing the application against FSW selection criteria

And Section 12.6 states:

Note: IELTS offers ‘General Training’ and ‘Academic’ options. Only the ‘General Training’ tests are accepted for CIC purposes.

CIO is Centralized Intake Office and CIC is Citizenship and Immigration Canada (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp)

But we're not experts on IELTS as we did a written statement (section 12.11) and decided to hope for the best!

We have relatives in Toronto which would make it easier to settle but the cold winters would take getting used to (although good bbq weather in the summer). We've been to Vancouver and the climate is pretty moderate but it's harder to get a job potentially. Never been to Calgary. Basically we'll go where I get work even if that means travelling around and trying out some of the less well settled provinces. My wife and I will probably take lower level jobs initially and slowly progress from there.

Probably best to post your question as a general thread and ask one of the Seniors for clarification. Would love to give definite advice but we're really just novices ourselves! Maybe in your thread you can reference the op6 guidance or copy and paste our quote.

Copying quotes into different threads is a little involved - if you use the quote function in this thread and then copy and paste the syntax to the new thread, I think that works. Some functionality on the forum like posting website links requires you to have done a certain number of posts before you can use them. Good luck!
