Hello to all......these questions may have already been asked somewhere (so sorry). My fiance' and I are planning to get married. Is it easier to get married here in Canada or in Europe? If we get married here, can I do an inland sponsorship, or does he have to return to Europe and wait? Please help!

Marriage alone does NOTHING to change the status of a person. He is not automatically granted a right to stay in Canada. When you apply to sponsor him, you should also apply to extend his visitor's status - asuming he's from a country whose citizens don't require a visa to come into Canada.

As to where it's easier, it probably depends on where in Europe. I got married in Slovenia and getting the papers for my Canadian husband to marry there took quite a while. I hear it's easier in Canada, but I'm not sure of the process. Every country can have different regulations about this, so I suggest you find about the country in Europe where you meant to marry.

my husband is from canada i am from the U.S we got married in canada and all i needed was my passport.
hope that helps, good luck

I am also from the US and got married in Canada. My wife is sponsoring me in an Outland application since applying inland would make it a longer process. Just make sure that when you visit Canada (in the future) during your application process that you have documentaion that shows you will be going back to the US as you plan to and have proof that your spouse is indeed sponsoring you.
