Hi! Is it really necessary to drive by yourself if you are going to the border? Can i bring a friend to drive for me??

You can either drive yourself or have someone drive you. Reason why people drive to the border with someone is because the border maybe too far, in order not to be bored driving alone for 3 to 4 hours. I have had the opportunity of driving with a friend that landed at the North Portal border crossing 2 years ago. The journey took us about 4 and a half hours, both to and return.

ok! thanks delgado77!! :)

I called CIC yesterday and asked for the progress of my application. She said everything is looking good and that the medical that they asked first week of April will be updated in a month or two (sigh) :o And I told her also that I applied for my WP renewal and that I didnt receive any news yet and its already been 2 months since I applied. She said that I shouldn't worry as my status will change to implied status because I have my PR application.

So hopefully she is correct coz its really hard to rely on an agent's word especially that 1 agent says different from the other agent. So far the agent that I spoke with yesterday is nice.

I hope all of the Feb, March and April applicants will receive good news soon.

How long does CIC normally take to stamp your passport and send it back once they receive it? Is there any limitation on how long they can hold on to my passport?

Also apart from Canada post tracking number to track your return, is there any other way?

Thanks for your inputs in advance

Hi Tina,

Sorry, I don't quite understand...were you required to re-do your medical exams? Thanks

Hi cosmo777! Yes, they actually asked for med renewal for my dependent last april 1....So i was told that medical normally get updates after a month or 2....But who knows coz CIC is very unpredictable and the fact that I really dont trust anymore the words of the agents because if you call them today, and call them again tomorrow, both agents have different answers. So might as well wait and see what happens. Sometimes it helps once in awhile to check this forum and see updates from other applicants

You can but that friend will have to follow the same process as you will. If he/she is Canadian no problem, leave and re-enter Canada; if on a work permit same thing; if on an implied status or waiting for permit; not recommended... So in other words, he/she would have to meet the visa requirements to enter USA (not really if you are just turning around) and re-enter Canada.

I received an email minutes ago about my WP application. As usual, its refused like what happened last year.. And I needed to reapply and pay again....Canada is making money from us huh....This is what's in the letter:

This letter refers to your application for a work permit.
Your application as requested is refused.
[X] After considering all the circumstances of your case, your application for a work permit cannot be approved as requested without a valid Labour Market Impact Assessment and Confirmation from Employment and Social Development Canada. Your prospective employer is responsible for obtaining this confirmation.
[X] Your status in Canada is valid until 2015/05/30.

So now, I dont know whats the next step.....Im so furious! >:(

Does anybody knows why CIC is asking for LMIA assessment? Im a PNP and I sent them a letter of support from my Nominating PRovince, WHy would they asked for that...ANd I thought they can look in their system if the applicant is a PR applicant....This frustrates me alot :'(

hello I am sorry to hear that. I was surprised if you attached extended nominee and work permit support letter with your application then why they need LMIA. did your employer pay comliance fee and fill LMIA exempt form ? your reply will be helpful because I am applying for extension tomorrow .it will help me before i do something wrong.
thanks
