Does anybody knows why CIC is asking for LMIA assessment? Im a PNP and I sent them a letter of support from my Nominating PRovince, WHy would they asked for that...ANd I thought they can look in their system if the applicant is a PR applicant....This frustrates me alot :'(

hello I am sorry to hear that. I was surprised if you attached extended nominee and work permit support letter with your application then why they need LMIA. did your employer pay comliance fee and fill LMIA exempt form ? your reply will be helpful because I am applying for extension tomorrow .it will help me before i do something wrong.

HI! nope...my employer did not fill up a LMIA exempt form..I dont think I needed that...I attached my contract , PNP certificate and letter of support from my Nominating province...I wonder if they really reviewed my application or they got lazy and just stamped with refused decision...SMDH

If your letter of support from the Nominating Province is mentioning conditions like Employer name and Noc Code, then you won't get OWP. You would be eligible for Closed WP and they would need an LMIA exempt form as per the new Norms since Feb 21.

as i know since feb 21 employers have to pay compliance fee and fill that imm5802 form. i talked to lawyer. di u apply before feb 21??

yeah thats why they refused .now you need that imm5802 form and fee reciept. and u can apply closed work.permit only.

Hi....THis is my 2nd yr applying for WP...So definitely I already know about the difference of Open and Close work permit....I did apply for Close WP...And the reason it was refused is not about that...They were asking for a certain letter, etc.....sigh.....I thougth by attaching the supporting letter and my PNP certificate it will be fine.......

Not yet. They are still discussing it with their attorneys'. I am waiting for updates. my WP is expiring in June end.
