After SA the application is sent to the VO. The Visa Offices sometimes send out an AOR. Ottawa does not.

All right, just checking. Received SA the 29th so I guess now it's just time for the bulk of the wait.

Hello Friends,

I see that many of you mentioning the visa offices within Canada (such as Ottawa, Mississauga, London, etc., ) where the applications are processed after SA are in Canada. I was under assumption that the application will be processed in the Home country of the Sponsored person once the SA is complete.

Can you guys please help me understand what would be the process after an SA is received ?

Ottawa is now processing applications for the US as the visa office in New York is no longer there. Mississauga is the intake office and will process some applications but typically it is Ottawa. I hope this helps.

Generally, yes they are processed in the home office for a country. However, it order to manage the backlog between offices, so applications are retained in Canada or sent to other countries for processing. For example, in my spouses country's case (Cuba), family applications are processed in Havana, but economic applications are processed in Mexico City. Most Americans are being processed in Canada and many Pakistani applications are being processed in London.

That is the general rule.

But nothing is set in stone. CIC keeps balance of applications, so if for example, London has a BIG backlog then some of the applications will be sent to other locations.

The ones who kept held in Mississauga I THINK it's because they are pretty straightforward applications.

No.

Mine is the most straightforward of all. No kids, married spouse with a long proven relationship, no other applicants, we don't have dependants, I make way more than what is needed..... and the application was sent to Mexico. Why? Because she lives in Mexico.

Hey Jalex23,
That's why I said on the same post:

But I don't know if any applicant from anywhere in the world could have this chance.
So far I've seen only US and UK applicants processed in Mississauga, but I can be wrong.

I had a straightforward application as well,Live in Canada, and was still sent to Ottawa.
