Yes, some applications appear to be going to "In Process" very quickly and appear to be receiving some extra checks based on other threads in this forum but I think that it's fairly subjective to say that more of those are getting rejected than would have anyway. Seems mostly psychological to me because people who got rejected in this fashion are much more likely to post than the people who are still in process and realize they could be in that state for anywhere up to 8-12 months.

The most recent one I saw on these forums for some unknown reason the applicant had applied when their IELTS scores didn't meet the CEC criteria, it doesn't matter whether that kind of thing is checked immediately in Sydney or later in Ottawa it's always going to result in a rejection.

I don't think it's about "extra processing" If you review OP25A, it clearly states the VO is supposed to put the application to "in process" before sending it to Ottawa - so it really isn't anything to be alarmed about nor does it mean those applicants are getting any kind of different treatment. It could be as simple as two VO's doing things differently.

Something other than "completeness checks" does seem to be happening at CIC however no one knows if it's for all applicants or just for those in process.

may be they hired a new VO who is trying his best to be as organized as possible...

Majority of in process applications are at CPP ottawa office. Very few being done at Sydney office.

My e-CAS says "Application Received on 26 March 2013"

I received AOR on e-mail on 2nd May.

Where does e-CAS show In-Process ? Do they send an email again ?
How do I know which visa office is going to process me ? Sydney or Ottawa ?

Gigoin,
Forget about everything else. As per the process, all applications sent to CIO NS will be routed to CPP Ottawa. You have got your AOR. First level cleared. Relax for the next 6 months. CIC will instruct you of further steps.
There have been some applications with 'In-process' status but I am sure if not rejected, sooner or later they will finally land in CPP Ottawa only.

A follow up to what Andy said: In process applications (from March' 13 tracker) have started to reach Ottawa.

So it's been over a week since my last post here and I still have no AOR nor has the application been returned as 'incomplete'. It's 2 months since it was received in Sydney (March 12) and it seems, according to the spreadsheet, that all March applicants have now received their AOR. Also ECAS can't find any information after trying on numerous occasions with both the UCI number and the receipt number. I'm getting slightly concerned now...!

Any ideas on who I should contact in CIC? Will they even entertain my query seeing as I have no reference number or AOR to quote?

The turnaround time for AOR is 3 months. Applications incomplete are returned within 2 months (on an average) so it looks good. CIC will not entertain your request without AOR. You have paid fees online so no way to track if your CC is debited or Draft encashed.
Your worrying will not lead your anywhere. Patience is the key.

If you call the contact centre you can use your UCI number, which can be found on your work permit. It's the XXXX-XXXX number.

The call centre aren't supposed to divulge information, but they are known to sometimes give basic info when they can, depending on circumstances. The number can be found on the website. Have you e-mailed Sydney?

If it's worrying you I'd suggest making ONE call and if you don't get anywhere sending ONE e-mail. Like Andy said, it's pretty much a waiting game, however you are definitely the exception so I'd give it a go.

I called the CIC to get information as I had not received my AOR till now. The package was received on 28th March. They told me that they mailed me my AOR on 3rd May by post.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get all correspondence by email. If I can do that online? The CIC lady said to email CPP to get the change made so that in future I receive all information online.

I was checking March 2013 tacker and found that there are 5 "in process" applications. I am a little confused by that number since few weeks back there were 7 applicants from March 2013 with "in process" status. Did someone get a change in their ecas status OR it got accidentally deleted??

These two candidates are no more "in process"; tho I don't know what has happened?
