We just availed of RBC's welcome to Canada banking package. However you have to be careful because they set you up with a pretty pricey account that's free for the first 6 months. After 6 months we will have to remember to go in and change to the basic package. So yeah first 6 months are free next months are double.

Hi Steph! Do you know anything about the credit card being offered by Scotiabank thru their Startright Program for immigrants? Was wondering if that's a secured or unsecured one that they offer. Been trying to find their email to send an inquiry but can't find one.

Dunno! Scotiabank is not really on my radar. It's one of the less popular banks here.

Hi everyone! November applicant here. Sharing the good news - just got my PPR!

Have some questions:

1) To those who submitted passport in-person at CEM, were you allowed to proceed to Level 6 to submit? Who will be receiving the documents?

2) Can we submit passports for PPR via their drop box at the basement?

3) To whose who already received their visas:

a) Did CEM send along with the visa all documents/package that you sent for the application (i.e., proofs, pictures, documents, letters, etc.)?

b) Is there an option for us to just pick up the visa and documents directly from CEM?

Thanks in advance! Praying for everyone's speedy processing. :)

Is your wife taking lessons? If not, this is how I failed on my first test.
1) There was a stop sign at the exit of the MPI parking lot before the sidewalk. Even I could see clearly clear from the stop sign, stop again at the sidewalk. The examiner made me pass this spot three times. 5 points deduction x 3.

2) When I changed lane to turn right, I had to stop the signal once even I was turning in about 15m.

3) Don't wait for a pedestrian when they don't have priority. According to the examiner, there was no sidewalk (there was!!) so the pedestrian did not have priority. 10 points.

4) Watch carefully for street crack. When there is no line painted, that's the way to see how many lanes the street it is. Even there was no other traffic, I was driving between two lanes, deduction.
I hope you never get your drivers licence

How's it going Doljan? My guy has had such great opportunities since he got here. Already finished his first week of work and has more job opportunities coming his way. I didn't expect that because Victoria is one of the hardest towns to find work. Guess if you're an immigrant they don't wonder why you're overqualified, applying for their minimum wage job with a university degree :D Everybody was really amazed how quickly he found work. Hope it's going well for you too!

We did not deliver in person.

We sent it in via "LBC".

We got our proofs back but none of the document originals that we provided.

Am not aware of anything like that.
