Welcome ;D

As far as what's happened to most of us, they will email the passport request to both sponsor and applicant. But I think the rest of the correspondence goes to the applicant. My partner has been contacted by email and by phone a few times.

At some point your status will change from "Application Received" to "In Process." Often that happens some time after the passport request, but for some people lately it's happened before.

It sounds like you're right in line for the next PPR!

This was pretty much my experience as well.

True.... Same here... :)

We have mother's day BBQ on Sunday, I don't know how many times we have to say, *no nothing yet.* I'm also getting tire of *so you are doing nothing.* And I say, volunteer once a week. *But for free, huh*

oh ya, I feel like snapping on them. Also I feel that it makes me become very negative against our CIC program for taking this long. My brother went through this 4 years ago, and I remember him snapping on that question too! I get more upset with the question because it reminds me daily that I am not with daughters.

I have met one person who was able to sponsor her husband and 2 children and their whole process took under 3 months. This was 3 years ago. So what has happened since that requires simple straightforward applications to languish not just for a few weeks but for months and years? From my travels through the forum this seems to be more the case with those that post here.

I know what your saying. My brother and his wife did this 4 years ago, with one child, and the entire process from filing to landed was less then 5 months. I am looking at a year.

I mean we really know what the reason is. A Conservative majority government. Drastic cuts to the public service. Closures of Visa offices abroad. Failure by government to ratify the collective agreement to foreign service workers. That's why applications can get lost or processed out of sequence. Why a process that can be don in a month or 2 now takes a year or two.

Hi CJG

Just wanted to ask if you received a reply from the office of the Minister when you emailed them about your sponsorship application issues? How long did it take them to reply?

I am asking because I emailed CEM and cc'd the Minister, I got a general reply from the CEM- " Your concerns has been noted and forwarded to the unit responsible blah blah" but I wanted a more detailed reply because the medical cert of my husband will be expiring next month. I'm thinking if their reply is because the Minister's office has been in contact with them or they just replied because they saw I cc'd the minister. This is the first time they replied out of the many emails I sent them.

Thanks for your help and you have been my guide in bringing my sponsorship application problems to the Minister and my MP after countless unanswered queries with CEM.

Well, they have posted the new, improved, and updated processing times on the CIC website. I did a double-take on the date because it looks like nothing has changed. So I guess they finally decided they couldn't wait any longer and just updated it. So where are all these "improvements"?

I think the SS is starting to slow Google down... 8) For all completed (blue) apps, I'm going to start replacing the formulas with the final values to reduce the recalculation time. I might also rework the medical tabs into one and do something with the total by type to reduce the number of queries...

Really it still says January 16th.. I checked the processing months and every VO is the same. Not sure if it has been updated

State of the App Address - 2013-05-09

ECAS Status: "Application Received"...

GCMS Status: One more week till 30 day time is exceeded...

MP Status: The call I was supposed to get last Friday I got today. The bulk of it was "I am going to send an inquiry to CEM". Soooo, they haven't done anything yet! As I told her of my PPR and sending the passport and medical I could hear her tap-tapping away at a keyboard. I hope they don't slack off now thinking everything is ok.

CEM Status: On the bright side that means CEM sent me the PPR on their own initiative. They now have a shiny new medical and the passport; all they asked for to proceed. Hopefully the twin GCMS/MP inquiries coming in will make them do something with it. (please, not the shelf!!!)

My Status: I need a drink!

I only get responses other than the auto reply when the Minister's office is cc'd. I believe they do this to cover their butt. I have yet to hear from the Minister's office about my concerns but so long as my app is in motion I have all the time in the world to hassle the Minister until the next election.
I have never accepted their standard reply "Well you are still within the posted processing time". So long as visas are getting issued to people who have applied well after me their "posted processing time" is meaningless. I will be happy to wait a year so long as everyone who applied with me or later waits a year as well. They have no response to this.
Glad I have helped someone.

Ah, you're right. I saw the date on the first page for stage 1. Was sleepy at the time. So they are still hoping for better news then. That guy with the page update button must be getting antsy by now...
