Bummer, just out curiosity when was your wife's meds done?
Hi Step, my wifes meds were done on the 4th of July 2013. Sorry for taking so long to respond, my wife and I both are now getting ready hopefully to be together soon. Just waiting now and hoping to see a visa soon.

I am going thru this right now and am in desperate need of advice. I am Canadian mother with three year old son who is illegitimate therefore I have sole custody. We gave the embassy a legal opinion from my lawyer and they asking for a court order. But I have de facto sole custody. What exact documents did you provide? PLEASE!! I am desperate. Please reply.

Hi, I'm Canadian and my husband is Japanese. We applied for his PR in December of 2013 through Manila (live in Japan) and I was approved for sponsorship Jan 2014. We're trying to make a decision about when we will move so we can tell prospective employers arrival dates. The web site says about 14 months from my approval but it looks like many were approved in 9-10 months. Am I reading the stats on the left correctly? What's an AOR? Does it make any difference that we have been married more than 10 years and have three children (who hold both passports)? And yes, both police records and health checks were sent with the application.

Thanks in advance.

Heather

9 to 10 months for most through Manila.
AOR= Acknowledgment of Receipt. Means CIC received.
Most of the waiting is in que, waiting for your turn to be processed.
Long marriage unfortunately will not help for most of the waiting, but once CIC begins I think you have a slam-dunk. No questions on validity of marriage.

Thanks so much for the quick answer. Much faster than we initially expected but may in itself present some problems. My husband is Japanese and so I believe he is not required to send his passport in since he is visa exempt. So, how long do you have from the time you receive whatever paper work it is that you receive that informs you of PR, to when you have to go through immigration in Canada?

You are correct Japan is VISA Exempt won't have to send in Passport.
Every case different, you won't know how long he will have to land until COPR issued.( Confirmation of Permanent Residency). But I believe expiry of VISA usually is tied to medicals. When they expire.

I've noticed that some people have their ecas moving into inprocess yet there is no ppr for them. My ppr date was April 28th, however a month has almost gone by but we haven't heard nor seen a thing from CEM. Maybe somebody can enlighten me a little bit on this.

It is always depend on the VO... there is no definite time where will you be in process.. but consider and always take note of your medical date.. because that is your visa validity

I have learned over the months of waiting, there is no reasoning behind how this process works. Some apps done one way, others different. I think it's safe to say CEM is working on your app.
I have seen a few apps that never do show in process, go straight to decision made.

I believe I have seen on a post quite sometime ago that some people didn't even have an update on their cic website, they just got their passport and visa couriered to them.

E-CAS is not very reliable, sometimes updates slowly or not at all.
You might just get a DM show up, then all that's left is to wait for VISA.

Which country are you from, i.e. are you a naturalized Canadian? Where was your son born? Is the father's name on the birth certificate? From which country is your lawyer / which country's law is he citing? A reference that I found in the Phils family law code is ARTICLE 176, which says that an illegitimate child is automatically under sole custody of the mother until age 7.

Yes I have heard that before that ECAS is not very reliable, but as my wife sits and waits in Makati she has a lot of questions in which I'm trying to answer to best of my ability. As I have mentioned I have seen some people get their visa's via courier and their ECAS never changed, their visas just showed up.
