I am curious to see the latest Open Data publication for Permanent Resident Applications Processed Abroad and Processing Times - English Version but it does not appear to be available on their website yet.
My MP is a Conservative and he will only support the position the government has taken.scos said:Besides, an opposition member with a majority government doesn't have much power to change much. Now if your MP is in the ruling party...
What I meant was if you are complaining to an MP who is not part of a ruling party in a majority government then threatening to vote against him won't do much because they can't influence much anyway. Even if they try really hard to force change, they don't have the power.CanadianJeepGuy said:My MP is a Conservative and he will only support the position the government has taken.
Complaining doesn't always lead to immediate change. What it does do is make the governmment aware that their changes have an immediate negative effect on people. Enough people making the same complaint can have an effect. Just ask the 1960's.
No, especially when the ordinary Canadian is losing their rights to protest.scos said:Making your complaints known can help. But only if the government is willing to listen. I haven't seen much willingness to listen to constituents in this government so far.
Is there a new one? I recall seeing one about a month ago. I can't find the link at the moment.jarry96 said:I am curious to see the latest Open Data publication for Permanent Resident Applications Processed Abroad and Processing Times - English Version but it does not appear to be available on their website yet.
I'm an ordinary Canadian.Steph C said:No, especially when the ordinary Canadian is losing their rights to protest.
I think they're based on the data CIC collected for apps processed in 2012. So I doubt there's a lock in date although it's unfair to start with promises of 6 months to have it doubled to 12.Luckyman said:I'm curious if the updated times are for new applications only? As an example, if it stated 8 months when ones application reached manila, would that not be "locked in" for those particular applications. They say that is the waiting time before one can get someone involved, so it would stand to reason that it should reflect posted times upon receipt.
But I'm not to sure government understands reason, logic, or fairness because the global increase in waiting goes against everything they state they are working at.
At least the new FSW apps won't start processing until March or may (can't remember) the lack of those apps may free up processing times for us.
The posted processing times are based on how long in took during the previous 12 months to process 80% of completed applications. Every 3 months an updated calculation is made and posted by CIC.Luckyman said:I'm curious if the updated times are for new applications only? Exactly! (+1) Like I said before, "am sure the Liberals are gonna get RIGHT ON that". Even WE couldn't have cared less if it took ONE more month to get processed . . . and WE are "involved"!tuyen said:...seriously, people.
With ALL the problems facing Canada right now, do you honestly believe that it would even fall to number 879 on the list of important things that politicians need to do? Can you honestly delude yourselves into thinking that they care if you're waiting 12 months as opposed to 11 months?
You miss the point.truesmile said:Exactly! (+1) Like I said before, "am sure the Liberals are gonna get RIGHT ON that". Even WE couldn't have cared less if it took ONE more month to get processed . . . and WE are "involved"!
A month or two wouldn't really matter to me if our spouses could get visitors visas in the meantime, or some kind of conditional residency.CanadianJeepGuy said:You miss the point.
One more thing to go through a process. They need to meet their mandate for family reunification to be under 6 months. They have been going the other way. I would rather them refund my money if they can't meet their own targets. Why should I now wait twice what I should have to wait and they still get paid?Steph C said:A month or two wouldn't really matter to me if our spouses could get visitors visas in the meantime, or some kind of conditional residency.
