I don't recall VO's being closed or downsized during any of the Lie-beral governments.

There are other ways to create chaos, not just by closing visa offices.

There are currently around 280,000 people waiting in a backlog for processing of their work visas which many of them applied for back in 2004. That particular brand of chaos was all thanks to the Chretien liberals who dumbed down the requirements for immigrants and, as a result, got a flood of applications that they couldn't possibly handle. But rather than quickly reversing their acts of sheer idiocy, they allowed the applications to continue to build up over the years.

It's okay.. there's no Koreans in Korea anymore. I was in Boracay last year and I saw them all. :P

That place has really changed. I still remember the first time I went there you had to scramble over a crumbled concrete pier to get to the various boats. And the only airport was down by Iloilo. The place has really grown.

I didn't mean there were 0 processed by the VO. Just 0 listed on spreadsheets here. :) There just aren't a lot of people on this site going through that VO.

Koreans have very strong "support groups" of other Koreans all around the world that they all seem to know to access even if they are simply taking a vacation in a foreign country. It would not be typical of Koreans to join this forum which they would perceive as foreign and not as useful as similiar forums that they have undoubtedly already created for Koreans going to Canada. And once in Canada they would find other Koreans to latch onto and complain how difficult it is to make Canadian friends.

Yep, have first hand experience with that aspect.

Agree with Steph C! A lot of the businesses in Boracay, even the recreational ones that offer boating and such, are owned by Koreans now. And the tourists, they all go to bars a bit early in the evening and leave early. All at the same time. We had a theory that there were some super secret Korean places.

I was there in October. You still had to scramble down broken concrete. Great place regardless. That would be quite a bus ride from Iliolo. We landed in Kalibo and took the bus up. Loved the scenery.

Hi Senior Members/Forum Mates,

I had my PPR last Jan 2, 2013 my ecas changed to In process Jan 9, til now I am waiting for DM, I know it's still more than a month, but my medical will expire March 6.

My question is, just in case CEM will "forget" to stamp my PP with Visa and my medical expires, does this mean that I have to undergo another med exam? How about the 15 months validity? (as the new rule).

Is it safe for me to assume that I can get the visa before my medical expires? I am asking because one of our batchmates got a call from the Embassy Jan 28 because her medical's expiring Feb 2 so she has to leave before Feb 2, another forum member had her medical expires today (Jan 31).. no call whatsoever from CEM.

I am just a bit confuse up to now of how CEM works/process our papers... I am asking because my husband is planning to go home mid Feb and we are hoping that when he leaves Manila, I'll be going with him already. So we cannot fully plan everything yet

Nothing to do but wait.. I guess? thanks for the replies.

Yes, every file is different so you can't assume anything. Give it a week, maybe one more before worrying . . . I think you will be fine. Our DM came on the monthsary of our PPR and then 'visa' only 3 days after that. Good luck!

I never found that problem myself. Always found Koreans to be very friendly and open at least around Toronto. The Chinese on the otherhand.....try to find someone in Chinatown that will speak English to you just to locate an address. Its like once they pass Spadina/Dundas all the english gets sucked right out of them.

My wife got an email reply from the Manila VO concerning her expired documents. All it stated was that the application is in process and if they require any additional documents they will contact her and thanked her for her patience......LOL.

LMAO at you guys in Baguio wearing toques :P Or my nieces and nephews who shiver and get goosebumps from the temperature of the ocean in Tagum! You will adjust. One day you will say to yourself that it's warm because it's zero degrees. There's enough Filipinos in Winnipeg to back that up.

You're not so different 'mskade', we (or I) can't stand it either. This winter or next, you'll face it eventually. Good luck!
